There's a variety of ways but ultimately it involves completing a transaction/honouring an arrangement that involved risking something.

For example: you might sell an item for 0.5 BTC. You complete the transaction, and everything went smoothly. The other person may be inclined to leave you positive feedback with the risk amount of 0.5 BTC.

Equally you can get bad trust if you have screwed somebody over.

No problem. As you can imagine, the trust score is a good indicator on if somebody is going to honour their side of the bargain, but that needn't mean those without trust are scammers. Nor does it mean that those with a strong trust score are safe - everything is a risk.

Any sensible trade will go down with a 'trusted' escrow who will hold the funds while the product is delivered. Trust can also be given for online jobs, favours, loans etc.

Note: there is also a Default Trust list, with presumably trustful people. I believe those on your trust list weigh more heavily when displaying trust. (I could be wrong.)

Positive trust ratings are given when you complete a reputable trade ,  completing some sort of task/job that left a good impression,  keeping your word when.it comes to promising some sort of payment.

The people on that list weigh far heavier on trust. I think to get green or red trust to show up on your profile you need to have positive or negative feedback from one of these people on the trusted list. It's quite a confusing system and is unfortunately easily manipulated.

Yeah, those are called sock puppet accounts. And check for evidence of trades and transaction histories etc. And just because somebody has positive feedback for selling $5 worth of Doges or trading 0.005BTC successfully doesn't mean they won't scam you out of your money no matter how little it is.

A good way to earn trust points is to trade with someone.

You can buy altcoins from people using bitcoin.

After the deal is completely, you can increase their trust rating and ask them to do the same for you.

It's best to trade with people who have been on here and a while and have a good reputation.

With the defaulttrust setting, all those feedback from "untrusted" accounts should be hidden automatically.

Pretty sure there's an option to turn them on or off.

Or if someone just wants to troll you. Troll trust isn't removed by mods. Sad

True, just like eBay right? I've been trolled on eBay before with an unwarranted neg. Needless to say I bided my time and got the bastard back. That feel was satisfying.

Yeah, but at least you have to actually enter into a deal with them first.
