Dubbed as Spam Mega Threads, are discussions that allow anyone to post a "spammy" response. Usually the motif with those threads has the OP posing a generalized question in the title with little to no context in the body of the post. As the question would be considered relevant on a longer term time period, responses yield little to no discussion with most being direct replies to the question in OP. This might go on for roundhead of pages with post after the OP is posted as bitcointalk users find such threadss easy to increase their activity with.

I've noticed that mods have recently started locking such threads, or even threads with the potential of becoming one. It'd be interesting to see if there are any guidelines mods follow for locking such threads nevertheless.

But my question as in the title is if there's a place to track such threads and talk about them. If not, there should be one perhaps.

I'll start with a couple in any case:
Holding is bullshit? - 2205 Replies - LOCKED
I hold 3 coins espers-(3 years),insane-(2 years),html - (5 years) Shocked and price is the same....no moon ....I dont trust to holding anymore,any suggestions?

Are you afraid of hackers? - 3309 Replies - LOCKED
Recently Bloomberg posted the information that it took hackers less than 10 years to steal over 14% of all existing Bitcoins and Ethereum from the wallets of their holders. The total sum they have stolen is more than $1,2 billion! How to protect yourself from hackers attacks? Are you afraid of this stuff?

All of the altcoin sub forum is covered in spam megathreads. Here's just a couple of examples:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3375482.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3517288.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3093129.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3296544.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3616972.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3493241.0

Some of them might be considered on going which might bring in some unique answers but a lot of them can only have a couple of unique replies. It's getting out of hand as the altcoin sub forum is so hard to read topics that you might be interested in because they will disappear to page 15 in a hour or two.

Probably.

Anyways, the good news is: They (Moderators) are now responding to "lock thread" requests.
I tried it twice (With the right reasons) and afterwards they locked the reported threads.

Why would it not be possible? But mods would have already noticed those threads due to their massive size and volume or responses, what would a report do?

It's good to have a thread like this to discuss such topics with reasons I think. Would be useful for mods as well perhaps.

Mods cannot scan the whole forums. They are aware of these topics but they cannot inspect all the posts.

is it possible to use the report to moderator  button against those topics in order to lock them  ?
If you notice users/spammers repeating digested ideas over and over then just report it, mods will then lock the topic. It works.

Thanks to the mods.
Seeing that action for this is so quick I'm starting to think that a report might also prove sufficient.
I'll leave the thread up for further discussion.

What I find interesting is that some were locked whilst others were deleted. I wonder what the criteria is for a thread to be deleted as opposed to just being locked?

Probably depends on the mod, but I usually trash utter shit threads with little to no value, whereas ones that have just degenerated into spam that may have some half decent posts I usually lock. Sometimes a thread can start of decent but shitposters don't actually read the op and just the title and it quickly turns into a spam mega thread which will never recover.

You can add that one seeing as it's been spammed by account farmers all day every day with the same old rubbish. Well over a hundred pages of spam from today alone. Whoever is behind that op is very likely paying for this spam.

Does anyone know what these codes are in some user's signature?

I have no idea what does these codes mean, but recently I saw several users posting similar codes in random threads.
