No he's saying PS3 games just can't be played on PS4 .... but he didn't realize that at the time of PS4 purchase.

Sony have made that clear for a long time, there would be no backward compatibility with PS3

I just did some reading up and it seems the PS+ memberships *are* actually region "encoded". Bummer. I found a site selling cards and they said "US region only".

I'm in Asia, so I guess I need to find Asian membership. Sorry for the confusion. I'm new to PS. Used to be an XBOXer !!

Do they still region encode the games as well? I'm glad you looked it up, I had no idea they did that to the cards. Changing the sale to North America only, unless you're familiar with your particular regions rules and don't care.

AFAIK, no, the games are entirely unencoded, though Sony say "game producers have the right to encode if they want" - so its a possibility, but clearly Sony don't want region encoded games, and I don't believe any games are region encoded at the moment. Thank God!!

The PS+ is "region encoded" presumably because of the different services it offers in different regions, live TV streaming etc.
