Yes you can, but you will not be making much. You will spend a lot more electricity than what it's worth. But if you can plug your PC's in public electricity, you can ''cheat'' but you will not make much anyways. Investing under 100k$ is not profitable.

Hello, Can I do mining with a normal PC? I have an i3!

You can, but only do this if you are trying to understand mining or mining for fun.

Its possible to do it on x11 or script/n coins.... But yeah, personally its better to just buy coins.

You can find the price on different exchanges here. https://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/info
For example, Primecoin (XPM): https://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/show/xpm

The OP never replied to anything and has not made a second post on the entire forum. Maybe he was hit on the head by his ex-girlfriend which caused memory-loss and he forgot there's anything like Bitcoin.

Maybe he realized he won't get rich mining with his PC, and left the bitcoin world Smiley

Yea when I visted a btc webpage in 2011, did some micro mining with my cpu (no idea where it went) and thought the same I did not think I'd be back a couple years later amazed it was worth doing after all.    Pays to take a little more effort in paying interest to things, nothing good comes easy

Just got the same question: i've got iMac with core i3 and MBP with core i7, is there any point to mine? I believe i need to mine currency on CPU, as GPU’s are not powerful as CPU..And is it possible to mine using both of Macs via Wi-Fi??  Huh

Yes it is possible to mine via WiFi. But don't look into BTC or Scrypt mining. Look for CPU-only coins such as MemoryCoin, ByteCoin (BCN) etc

As it already had been said you can mine, but do not expect great earning. You can choose which power to use CPU or GPU, I suggest to use CPU, but better perform an upgrade to i7 and then try. You also can try merged mining.

Is there any point?  I guess it depends on what you're expecting to get out of it.  If your goal is to learn about the process of mining and crypto-currencies in general, then sure, try it out.  If you're expecting a profit, there really is no point to mine with that hardware - especially if you want to mine BTC.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

Definitely don't mine bitcoin. Look at new promising alt-coins that you'd be able to mine and hopefully trade soon, or look around for CPU only coins
