Hi there,

Is there any way to get around the long withdrawal time from Gox. Do they accept withdrawal any way except fiat or bank withdrawal.
I'm happy to withdraw any way if it reduces the wait time.

Thanks
Adam

ps. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

Depends - what are you withdrawing?

If you want to withdraw USD, I think you are completely out of luck.

If you are in the euro zone and can use SEPA, I think the delay there is a few weeks to a month or so.

If you have a domestic Japanese bank account, last I heard you could do pretty fast withdrawals.

If you want to withdraw Bitcoin, that should work fine.

It would be EU SEPA for me!

This'll take several weeks, longer for large amounts (according to the FAQ).

The only way to quickly get money out of Gox is converting it to BTC and selling the coins elsewhere.

Yeah, thankyou.

I would probably be withdrawing in the region of £200

I don't understand why MtGox don't issue old fashioned cheques.

Writing a cheque takes about 1 minute, someone else would cross check the cheque before signing it.

Simple but effective.

Instead they choose to use massive queues and fill out long complex forms for a very limited daily quantity of wire transfers.

Why is this ?

I aske don support and the person I spoke to said 'they prefer to fix their existing system' which is a little strange considering it's been broken for about half a year or more right now.

Write the cheque and mail/FedEx it.

I've wondered the same thing.  If they could just mail me a check (even if it were denominated in Yen) I might actually start trading there again.

Japanese banks don't issue checks but bank draft. Also it is much difficult to issue them. Even it is issued they'll be in big trouble if they are not cleared by banks.

This is not technical issue but financial issue to reduce risks, mainly from bank's view point.
