Well that's why they call it gambling. I think if you know when to quit it can be fun, but like most vices it reels you in pretty fast and it's then hard to get out.

"The house always wins" otherwise why would people make gambling sites? It would be pointless, people start to win and get hooked and think they'll have good luck, but in most cases that's that not correct.

It doesn't win if you quit whilst you're ahead, but the gamblers mentality doesn't really work that way. They see the quick profit because they've won some easy money and try win more, and then usually lose.

Doesn't mean you are going to be ahead you could not even win once or you could win all the time odds against you.

It's natural to want more - that's why people enter gambling. Some people say that the worst thing you can do is win your first wager as you taste success and crave more, others say that you lose as soon as you entertain the idea. But I agree, overall, with probabilities slightly in their favour and human psychology massively in their favour, the house always wins well and truly.

Yeah, obviously the house always wins. I don't know why people bother with big gambling, do they think they are going to win overall? I occasionally put a very small bet on a football match, or snooker etc (maybe 2-3 times per year, and a small amount). I know overall I will loose it but I do like the thrill/gamble, and as I said, I make very small bets because I know the house always wins.
The only type of 'gambling' I put a fair amount of money into is poker, and that's because you don't play the house, just other players who are in the same position as you, so it's a fair playing field and comes down to skill (and a bit of luck).

Yeah I think a lot of people start in that manner, but unfortunately some get drawn in further and eventually become numb to the smaller losses, increasing their stake and thus increasing their chances of losing it all.
Mind, I bet it's great if/when a big win comes in.

I learnt the hard way I gambled a lot in recent years until I finally moderated, I honestly think it's like a health condition it can ruin peoples lives and then make others very happy If you get addicted to gambling it's very hard to actually back out I was lucky and got out before it did some major damage to my life.
Although, I do gamble now and then but in moderation and normally don't gamble more than I would like to lose.

Well it is an addiction, just like any other. And how much do you like to lose?

Actually gambling is good for fun and when you have few extra bits you can afford to loose but its bad when people consider it a way of quick money also when its been taken too far !!

Aye, I've been trying to convince some friends that poker is totally different from other casino gambling. I like to think I'm a reasonably good poker player (turned 1 BTC into 5 BTC on seals over a few months), but some of my friends think it's all about knowing the percentages, and nothing more. I'm gonna try and set up a game soon and hopefully bleed em all dry hehe. I think NL holdem is about 60% luck/40% skill, but this obviously depends on what type of game you are playing (tourney/cash game), and Pot Limit would have more luck involved as it's easier to call more cards for cheap.

better gambling is trade. The house gains when trades are made, doesn't matter who loses or wins, so you have fair chance.
