Will stocks all be just cryptocoins?

Is it possible that when a company wants to go public they just issue an altcoin? Where each coin represents certain shares of the company. It can be traded, transfered as any altcoins. Then do we still need stock exchanges and underwriters? Do we need anything else for this to happen?
