Switzerland hopes to become a true reference in the crypto-currencies sector and wants to become an indispensable hub for investors. It is for this reason that the authorities are currently working on implementing a regulation favourable to virtual currencies.

Switzerland is in favour of crypto-currencies and it intends to make it known to anyone who wants to hear it. In order to become a leader in the field, the country focuses on the future of digital currencies.
So much so that the federal government has just commissioned a study on the issues and relevance of the e-franc implementation.

This would be a state crypto-currency, of course supported by BlockChain technology.

This is to promote cryptocurrency especially if there are ICO base projects being introduced. This is a very good step to make and hopefully the government will take its step also to boost the cryptocurrency in their country without getting abused to its use from the people who will do money laundering, to finance terrorist group and etc. Just like any other countries like USA they had intensified KYC procedure for the use of cryptocurrency.

News source 2:
https://www.ccn.com/switzerland-government-calls-for-study-on-state-cryptocurrency-e-franc/

The matter is at a very nascent stage and nothing has been confirmed yet. The lower house of parliament has asked for a detailed study on it and based on that study, decision will be made. Also the crypto market will not be benefited even if Switzerland finally decides to launch it because it will just be a digital form of the government backed money. It will not help bitcoin or any other altcoins to recover their market cap. Not particularly cheering news!

More and more countries will recognize Bitcoin because they need blockchain technology, but blockchain and Bitcoin are connected in people's understanding, so they will slowly relax Bitcoin.

Hoping more and more countries would love to do what Switzerland had done. In that way more people will engage in using bitcoin and with this the bitcoin value will rise again, not just bitcoin but the currency in crypto. Moreover it is better if the said country will focus on an specific coin that have the potential, bitcoin specifically.

Good thing that they are in favor of cryptocurrency/blockchain, but we all know that a real cryptocurrency can't be national or made/controlled by government. It is conflict of interest.
Let's say that for example they really do make it (a real one- decentralized, opensource...). What would that mean?
It would probably not be very secure (a lot less then Bitcoin), since they would start from nothing and number of nodes would be low. If it would be secured from the start then it would be centralized, because they (government) would have majority of nodes/hash power...
They would encourage shops and other business to accept it. This would cause price increase, which would definitely bring attention from investors from all over the world. And here we have another bubble and I believe it would be a lot bigger then bitcoins bubble (in %). And all this price volatility definitely wouldn't help country's economy. If they would controlled it to avoid this then we are back to digital FIAT money...

So I don't think there will be any successful "national" cryptocurrency (as we know it today). But what I think is possible is that blockchain will help make things more transparent- but this would of course not be in interest of those who are profiting because of "cheap" money.

It is great to hear that such a country like Switzerland is involved in the activities of crpytocurrencies at least this would change the attitude and perceptions that some people and nations have about bitcoin hence going a long term to also motivate other nations to also accept cryptocurrencies into their system.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, they've just ordered a study to be made here.
You can't say that it's even likely that they are going to launch their own crypto.

This study can take years to fully finish and even then the chances of something being done are still very low.

Friend, please put the link here so we know that your good news is really happening.
If a country have its own cryptocurrency, that means they are allowing their peoples to use cryptocurrency.
and i will not afraid to buying that coin as the early adopter because i know it is going to use by everyone on that country.

"In Switzerland, if the proposal is approved?"

Well we can see from this words that it is not yet approved and it is on a study if they will sure adopt using cryptocurrency, There will be sure a lot of challenges ahead for them if they can surely pull out something like this, But I really think they can sure do this if they can do what japan had done, They can pull something like that, But well they will have to study and research the possibility on where they can use E-franc and its platform with the use of blockchain technology.

Yeah, I agree. Its too early to call, although we all know that Switzerland is not against crypto but the likelihood of launching its own crypto might take years. Would like to see them also taking the lead in UE because we all know that they have been a safe haven for years in the banking industry until the US step up and "forced" them to open up bank accounts after bank accounts.

Switzerland is considering of launching a crypto currency.  Studies are being conducted.  No wonder it the proposal comes true very shortly.  Because Switzerland is the country which survives on two things
1  Tourism and 2  Black Money of the world.

Tourism is the sector which will get a big boom after the crypto is used by most of the people.
This country is because the heaven for the black money so they know that money inflow will increase with the adoption of crypto currency.
It will be easy for the black money holders to park their money in Switzerland because it will be  easy via crypto.

No surprise there. Switzerland is one of the most advanced countries in the world. And this move of launching a national cryptocurrency proved it once again.

It maybe good for the introduction of blockchain technology but as for cryptocurrency market, it would have no effect because as what is stated, it is still controlled by the government and most likely a private blockchain. I can see that in the future more countries would consider adopting blockchain technology and maybe make their own cryptocurrency to compete with those decentralized cryptocurrencies because it would be efficient to use than fiat given that we are almost depending on technology in all aspects of our lives.

Will governments allow their Cryptocurrencies to be deflationary or will they settle for stable coins.  How about the Decentralization aspect? Will they use public or Private Blockchain. My guess is that they will choose private Blockchains to continue  printing currencies out of thin air and possibly Manipulating the general Crypto market.

I wish the Crypto community can come together and agree to reject any kind of Cryptocurrency that isn't transparent enough.

That's a neat idea for all the countries to launch their own cryptocurrencies. I know it sounds odd because of the decentralized nature of crypto, but I don't think it's impossible;)

To everyone in this thread that is saying this is good news, please consider this :

1. The more money being invested into E-franc, the less is available to be invested into Bitcoin.
2. GovCoins is bad, because it is controlled by the same government that is in control of Fiat now.
3. When E-franc is implemented, the governments will start to ban other Crypto currencies to eliminate the competition.
4. E-franc is a step backwards into centralization again. <Centralization of authority>

So, rejoice all you want, but just take note that the E-franc is our competition and it goes against everything Crypto currencies stand for.   Angry

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, they've just ordered a study to be made here.
You can't say that it's even likely that they are going to launch their own crypto.

This study can take years to fully finish and even then the chances of something being done are still very low.

I hope that other countries will do the same thing. This decision made by the Switzerland is a good decision that will lead them to be a gold country. As we all know bitcoin is the future of currency and therefore people will start to use bitcoin soon. Just like the Switzerland, it is the perfect timing for them to start cryptocurrency. But it is more good if they focus on bitcoin, because bitcoin has more benefit and the one on top of all other coins. So much for that we should be hopeful that more and more will start using bitcoin.

That's very nice, all country has able to create their own currency as long as the people believe and embraced it and specially people benefited to the said currency why not?, the important is this currency is accessible and available if ever they want to trade international. And the most important here is increasing of economic growth because of taxes generated from crypto in every transaction like Bitcoin that's really appreciated.

Its nice to hear that Switzerland had joined the growing numbers of crypto currencies friendly countries by launching its own crypto E-franc, Venezuela had launched petro, this is a welcome development I believed other countries will follow-suit so as to sustain the growing numbers of cryptos in the ecosystem. Although this crypto will be well regulated and centralized this might discourage potential investors.

If they are producing their national cryptocurrency, how would the government be able to control it owing to the decentralised nature of the  blockchain technology?

This news is not confirmed yet but I came to know that the lower house parliment of Switzerland has taken a serious notice about that case but still this case is pending and cryptocurrency is not launched yet but I don't think that its will make the crypto market red if allowed by parliment. As,national currency is always government backed money and will not help bitcoin or altcoin to raise their market value.

That's just great news!!! Switzerland is not inferior to anyone else in the economic sector. It makes me very happy. I think that many countries, both in Europe and in the West and the East, will adopt the experience of Switzerland. In fact, all this is going on, everyone knows that soon there will be crypto economy.

It seems country after country is falling into line and becoming in favor of crypto currency.  Seems odd how much they were against it and now all of a sudden they seem to be falling over themselves wanting to get in.  I have not put it all together yet but there is more than meets the eye.

Well, as far as I get it, they aren't LAUNCHING it. I'd rather say they are "CONSIDERING LAUNCHING IT," or "STUDYING" whether to launch it or not. That's it.

I think that Switzerland's implementation of its national crypto currency, even if it is a digital analogue of national paper money, will have a positive effect on the decentralized crypto currency. Even the national crypto currency will be evidence that the state as a whole is serious about crypto currency and its technology blockchein. The circulation of even national centralized crypto-currencies will in any case be of interest to citizens by analogy to use and decentralized species of crypto-currency. Therefore, in general, this is good news for the crypto currency.

Mostly county will adopt crypto currency but they will impose some restrictions on it .So many countries has made high level committee to study the crypto currency. And the use of black chain technology in banking sector is inevitable.India is also planning to launch it's own crypto currency "LAKSHMI".

This is a good update for cryptocurrency and this could be mean that there will be another reason for the bull of crypto market price. Imagine that it is just like switzerland encourages people to check and invest on cryptocurrency. This will lead to a godd percentage of market price increase in the market as the people will going to get involve in cryptocurrency.

I think they will be very interested in it. A digital money to be provided with the guarantee of a good country like Switzerland. With this step, many countries can take action. And they can dare to print their own money.

It is very interesting. In fact, I'm surprised that representatives from the United States or Japan did not think up the first, but it's very interesting. This is what the modern, full-fledged state means Shocked Shocked Shocked

I agree with your opinion. I think the national currency should be Bitcoin. Because Bitcoin is widely used around the world. All countries will use bitcoin and we will never have trouble traveling in countries around the world.

This is a very good step to make and hopefully the government will take its step also to boost the cryptocurrency in their country without getting abused to its use from the people. This would cause price increase, which would definitely bring attention from investors from all over the world. And here we have another bubble and I believe it would be a lot bigger then bitcoins bubble.
It may not affect the price of 'real cryptos' in general since they are not likely to be traded on exchanges.More like the Petro dollar for Venezuele

As far as I know, Switzerland is a cryptocurrency country. The government and people in Switzerland are always interested in and support Bitcoin. There are many Bitcoin ATMs built in this country. I feel that Switzerland can make the world think differently about bitcoin

This is just a plan, not yet realized. However, this news can be a trigger for other countries to be able to follow so that more countries are supporting bitcoin and blockchain technology so other countries are aware of the greatness of this technology in effective, efficient and safe data management.

Whoopy, and before you know it you will have a eDollar and a ePound and a eZim and governments all around the world will have their own GovCoin to manipulate at will.  Roll Eyes The Bitcoin price will take a massive hit, because everyone will be using these GovCoins and nobody would be supporting Bitcoin.  )Tongue(

I say it again, this is a bigger threat to Bitcoin than all these other Alt coins combined, because it is backed by these governments.   Angry

This is a very great news. Switzerland is a very strategic country when it comes to world international organizations and politics. It is the headquarters of so many international organization. If Switzerland accepts cryptocurrency to the point of having its own, there is a possibility that the leaders of those organisations and other countries will accept crypto too.

I doubt that Switzerland will issue its own cryptocurrency because the traditional banking there is pretty strong and they won't allow to do this.

Switzerland has been recognized as a nationally friendly blockchain and electronic money, especially by the "Crypto Valley", a center of fintech, blockchain and digital currency operations located in the state of Zug. According to a study by blockchain BlockShow Europe 2018, the country was ranked first in the list of leading European countries for starting Blockchain. Last month, the Swiss Federal Council requested a newspaper. on the risks and opportunities of introducing a government-backed digital currency. The idea for national e-money development was proposed in February by Romeo Lacher, chairman of the Swiss stock exchange SIX. He said, "An e-franc under the control of the central bank will create a lot of value - so it will be good for the economy."

If Swizerland intend to adopt cryptocurrencies there should be an official statement reported to Media, but I don't find any link to this statement in your thread.
Please give us the link where you found this infirmation.

Switzerland has always been the hub of major neutral financial activity. If they don't do something now like create a national crypto currency bank then somewhere else like Malta will take over in future

This type of crypto currency are centralized and they are same like using fiat currency so i think investing in them is not much profitable. If they really believe in cryptocurrency then they should promote bitcoin and its technology and legalize the usage of cryptocurrency will will really boost the bitcoin price and its movement.

So i think who ever is going to invest in E-franc , they are going to expose them self to it and have to show all records of trading and investment.

switzerland is a country that pay attention and cares about crypto development. I think crypto development in a Switzerland country is very fast. a lot of mining. many ICOs coming from Switzerland. even now they are creating crypto backed up by Swiss currency. Rocks is a stable crypto currency backed by E franch.

This is undoubtedly good news, which shows that the government of the countries is moving towards the adoption of the crypto currency. But honestly, I doubt that national crypto currencies will be in demand among people. National currency should be Bitcoin.
I agree with your opinion. I think the national currency should be Bitcoin. Because Bitcoin is widely used around the world. All countries will use bitcoin and we will never have trouble traveling in countries around the world.

Bitcoin should not be a national currency of a particular country, this is international property so for me this is not a problem, if only Switzerland wanted to make e-currency itself and have a more stable nature, why not?
because we know the volatile nature of bitcoin is quite dangerous if it concerns the country's economy

This is a great news to the crypto space, but it will be very helpful if you provide a source to this information to some of us here to go check it up and enlighten ourselves.  But i don't think this cryptocurrency will be decentralized since the government of Switzerland is in charge of the creation of this coin. Adapting Blockchain technology does not necessarily mean your platform  is decentralized once you have a central authority controlling the affairs of the platform. Its a nice idea to create a national cryptocurrency, but I think this is just physical fiat changed into digital currency..

Very happy to heard and this a good feedback for the whole cryptocurrency community, i am not agree for the implementation of rules and regulations for cryptocurrency but if this the ways to avoid control the whales maniiptlation better to implement standard rules control cryptocurrency by one government worldwide.

The fact that more and more countries are going positive with the blockchain technology is real great news! More and more countries nowadays wanted to be the center of the crypto investments hub. This means that crypto is a real thing. Just give bitcoin a year and I think it will bull again.

This is an encouragibg news for all the crypto lovers and whole crypto community. If a country is going to launch its own crypto coin,  it means that overall adoption if crypto will increase as well.  This will be possible because of reasons like increased awareness among people about crypto and it's benefits.

News like this always provide a soothing relief in times like this. Am glad that countries are beginning to see the beauty of Blockchain and cryptocurrency in general.  This a huge push for the crypto market. Even though the value of cryptocurrencies dropped badly this yet, the adoption were on the high side.
