Just came back from florida, tampa stayed in a amazing apartment for 2 months and it was heaven. We had dolphins rising out of the sea in the mornings and evenings and the night life was amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I met some real nice people which I have stayed in contact with and I really enjoyed it I'm glad I got into Bitcoin when I did as Bitcoin paid for this holiday.

What's the nest holiday you have spent money on?

It's really hard to say...

One of my top "vacations" was to Thailand with a friend of mine back in '08. We were there for 5 weeks in total; me to escape the pain of a break up and he to escape a soul sucking job after quitting suddenly. We saw and did things we didn't think we'd ever see/do and we both look back on it every now and then when we hang out. This was around the time that protestors occupied the main Bangkok airport and so our return flights were cancelled and we stayed in the country for an extra week. Koh Tao was especially heavenly.

Otherwise, browsing the southern Mediterranean coast of Spain (Malaga) with my current girlfriend last year was a lot of fun.

I also lived in Los Angeles for a couple of months a few years back. I lived in Santa Monica a couple of blocks away from the beach/pier. Anyone who's been there can attest as to how awesome it can be around there. I did my fair share of partying, both in the West and in Hollywood (think Chateau Marmont, etc.). I even got to chat up a woman who was being paid to be a mermaid and lounge in the pool at a particular advertising party. Very fun couple of months.

I want to go to thailand about it's so darn expensive I'm hoping to go within the next 3 years.

Other than the plane ticket (for which there ARE deals sometimes), it's dirt cheap. There really is no excuse. If I were to pack up now, fly there and spend 2-3 months having some fun in the sun, those months would actually cost less than spending 2-3 months where I currently live. By a wide margin.

People forget that other than paying for your rent, time spent traveling in cheaper places can actually prove to be more cost efficient than staying home at home for the same amount of time.

That's actually a good idea I have actually never thought of that and looking into it would probably show that it would be cheaper than where I currently live thanks for opening up my eyes.

As long as you're not an "all-inclusive resort" kind of traveler, it's very easy...

For example, back in 2008, I had paid just above $3400 for my entire Thailand trip, which lasted for 5 weeks. The biggest costs were as follows:

-$1800 for airfare (Yes, that's super expensive but it was a good price back then. I could get the same flight for $900 now)
-$400 for diving lessons (4 days, which included an air-conditioned room)

So if you do the math, that's $1200 for the rest of the trip and we lived large. I wasn't a very experienced traveler back then so if we had stayed at cheap hostels instead of hotels (or if airbnb existed back then), we would've saved even more. We also never cooked our own food; it was all restaurant stuff. If I had to do it again, I'd probably spend more in grocery stores versus restaurants.

If your goal was just to see some sites, chill by some beaches and go out a little while in Bangkok all while being fairly conservative on your food expenses, you could probably do the same trip I did for five weeks for less than $2200 including airfare. It's not *that* expensive... Some all-inclusives charge that much for a week.

Come to think of it, makes me want to go again...

the best holiday I've had probably that time when I visited a mostly-untouched tropical forest in my home country.
I really love the clean clear blue river that flows right to the beach. and there's a bunch of fishes that we caught.
the only things that I didnt like though, are the hotels, the walking and my injury Sad
however I really enjoy the trip Grin

Hopefully I haven't been on my best holiday(s) yet. Have lots of places planned, but it's hard getting everybody to actually book time off work and ust get the damn things booked.

I didn't have any "fun" with them (haha) but I definitely appreciated how they were accepted in every day life. Bartenders, waiters (waitresses?), etc. It's like a third gender... Kinda progressive!

Yeah, they practically are a third gender over there and do seem to be treated very well... well, that is until drunken westerners start abusing them  Roll Eyes.

I guess it depends where you hang out. After seeing older Western men with very, very young (and seemingly unhappy) Thai women, my friend and I just decided to stay elsewhere. The worse we saw was along the coast in Phuket, where we even saw what must've been an 18 year white kid with a 40 year old Thai "girlfriend".

Most western men go there because it's one of the only places they can go where pretty young women will pay attention to them, but it obviously comes at a price. You can live like a king over there on a pretty modest budget.

I still remember going out clubbing with my friend and, after a few drinks and one thing leading to another, we ended up dancing on a mini stage with a stripper pole (the club had about 5 of those mini stages spread out). Before long, and keep in mind that at this point it was just my friend and I having a drunken ol' time, two prostitutes climbed on our mini stage and joined us.

Within two minutes, we were gone... Sad

I wonder how different it would be if I were single and went now!

It's a hard choice between Bangkok, Singapore and Honolulu.  Probably Bangkok, it really has a lively atmosphere, and I felt really comfortable there.  Singapore is really clean, but is a bit of a concrete jungle.  Honolulu was nice and relaxing, and great beaches.  If I was to go back to one place, it would be Bangkok.
