I am looking for something better then just good old paper to print paper wallet. But I cant seem to find anything. The closest I can find is water proof paper for maps.(don't know how thick it is) I like to keep a paper wallet with .01 btc in my wallet to help explain bitcoin  when asked. I am wondering if their is paper out their that is more like current currency than binder paper.

You could use regular paper and laminate it after printing.

Just use some quality paper or card and laminate it. If your keepin it on your wallet you should probably use card instead of paper. Or just ask some currency counterfeiters  Grin.

Laminating it would stop it from folding properly to hide the privet key I would think. A card would work but they don't hold up all that well either.

Why don't you buy one of these: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=400367.0;topicseen

There's other cards available in the marketplace if you don't like that one.

You need to go to a fine art supply store and ask about their printmaking papers. You want a cold press (which makes it smooth) acid free 100% linen rag paper.
A well-known manufacturer is Arches.
A paper that I've used a bunch making fine art prints is Arches 88.

See here:
http://www.utrechtart.com/Arches-88-Silkscreen-Printmaking-Sheets--300gsm--White-MP-10424-001-i1008220.utrecht

But there are many others. An art supply store would have a dozen sample to check out.

Bleach a US One Dollar Bill to get the "In God We Trust" off.  Then write "0.01 Bitcoins" on it with oil based paint.  This should last a long time.  US dollar bills are made from 75% cotton and 25% linen.  They stay cool in warm weather.

-Edit-  I just looked up the process of bleaching a One Dollar Bill.  It involves bleach and acetone.  Way too messy.  Then I realized why remove the "In God We Trust."  It really doesn't diminish the value.  So the new recipe is:

Take a One Dollar Bill.
Paint "0.01 Bitcoins" on it with oil based paint.

This will function both as US fiat and bitcoin.  A hedge against the US/BTC exchange rate.
If you want someone to be able to spend the bitcoins your can paint the private key QR code of an address that has 0.01 Bitcoins on the bill.

Books printed on "good old paper" can last hundreds of years. Don't see the need for "special paper". We have a similar thread about types of ink. Same thing again. Any normal ink is fine. Books that monks wrote 1500 years ago are still perfectly legible. I don't think hi-tech solutions are needed for paper/ink when doing paper wallets. Maybe don't use invisible ink though Smiley

Do they? Most books I have start to yellow pretty quickly even after a few years. And those old books are usually written on papyrus or hemp paper or some other form.

I think that is exactly what I am looking for thanks. An art supply store didn't occur to me as a place to check.

I put it in my physical wallet so it gets more stress on it than most paper wallets. that is why I am looking for something more than paper.

Interesting idea but not quite what I am looking for. I also live in Canada so 5 is the smallest bill and it is all sum form of plastic now.

Here is what I do.

I print and make my paper wallet offline (on white card stock) using this website's source code, found on GitHub.

I've purchased some stickers and bags from the website, Canton Becker, the developer, handles all aspects of the website. I've even purchased custom amounts of things, that are not an option on the website. Anyway... I then spray one side of the card stock with Krylon Preserve It Aerosol Spray, Matte Finish I let that side dry for a bit (only takes about ~5 minutes) I then cut out the design and fold it like shown in this video or on his website then I place the stickers like shown. Lastly I put them in a bag that comes with the wallet and... Tada!

I have books from primary school from 30+ years ago, and they are fine. Cheap shit paper and cheap shit ink. What are you doing to make yours turn yellow after a few years? I think that is fungus Wink

Maybe glossy paper ones will last, but not standard paperback books etc. And why are you keeping on to outdated textbooks from 30 years ago? Do they tell you that earth is flat in them?  Grin

I would print it on normal paper. If it´s to old and tattered, I´d just copy it on a fresh piece of normal paper... Wink
