I've wanted to help a few people on this forum with my technical knowledge since I'm a web developer and have been studying bitcoin for some time now, but I dont know what I have to do to no longer be considered a 'newbie'...

That was the first post from the developer yesterday.  Not sure how you go from being a "web developer" to launching your own (admittedly smooth) coin the next day.  Also why was his last post the launch?  Seems like you would at least want to continue to support the coin...

I was able to run wallet in wine on ubuntu 13.10 no problem. It even mined and every thing unfortunately difficulty was 4000+, useless at this point!
