Google Is Looking At How It Can Use Bitcoin For Its Payments Products

The great Andy Greenberg at Forbes has the complete story.

A marketing manager named Jarar Malik from Pakistan decided to email the CEOs of top tech companies in the U.S. to see if they would start accepting Bitcoin.

He got no response from Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos, Sergey Brin, or Larry Page. He decided to email their lieutenants.

He got a response from Vic Gundotra at Google, who runs Google+. Gundotra forwarded the email to someone in the payments group at Google.

"We are working in the payments team to figure out how to incorporate Bitcoin into our plans," said Sridhar Ramaswamy, who is a SVP for Ads and Commerce at Google.

These news some months ago would have pumped the price to the moon. Seems like the thing is stabilising?  Huh

I think the action needs to be taken before we see any potential value increase. News isn't enough anymore it seems. If google announce it as done, I think the price will move for sure. It's all speculation of course.

I read in a google product forum in early 2013, one person was asking for Bitcoin payment and ignorant people were accusing him as a scammer. 1 year ....so much has changed.

Yeah I heard a similar story to this. I used to be a neysayer on Bitcoin. I remember telling a friend how it all sounded like a scam. Now I'm eating my words!

A lot of people assume it's a scam because of the if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is ethos.

Yeah very good point. My friend tried to get me into it when Bitcoin was around $50. How I wish I'd listened! I got in at $850!

I've got two mates who I told about Bitcoin. One is pretty smart and was sceptical of Bitcoin and he immediately thought it was a scam, the other isn't very smart and wanted to invest straight away, but that guy is always getting scammed on stuff as he's greedy and gets blinded easily by the promise of profit. He was basically ready to invest without even actually doing his own research on it and it could've been total BS for all he knew. I probably could've sold him 1 Dogecoin for the price of a Bitcoin and he would've been none the wiser.

Haha, sounds about right. Better to be cautions of failing, than to fail at being cautious. Just made that up  Cheesy
