About satoshi's identity :

1) Did this site not keep logs of ips logged in from to trace/lead to(wards) satoshi ?

2) If so then suppose the govt sends a request for the ips of a particular member then will this site be obligated to give it ?

3) Also satoshi was subscribed to various crypto groups .. would none of them be keeping logs of any sort ? In fact he even sent emails to Adam Back, Hal Finney and others when the first version of bitcoin was released... not sure why no clue was found.

4) Of course there have been many attempts to find his identity but what is the dead end they have reached till they finally gave up ? I mean ip logs or isp level , etc.

PS: Pardon the questions if they are old and also of the usage of "he" cause "it" (lol) could be anything.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I don't think he has left any traces back. He must had used Tor / Anonymizer services to hide his identity.

Dam ... hope it wasn't the US intelligence (or a part of the naval research wing more specifically) then .. anyways that's pure speculation.

What about IP logs ? Im sure the site keeps them .. but are they obligated to give it under government intervention ?

Also what about the mails to Adam and Hal .. any idea if they too were accessed through tor ?

If he had used the Tor / Anonoymizer IP services, how does IP logs matters ? It will point to some junk IP.

I am assuming few people on the forums know his identity..  but they wont tell.

I'm thinking the same but then the theory that goes against it is that sure many "intelligence agencies" would have tried to get to the root of it thinking its the "other intelligence agencies" working in this . And in that process, they would have tapped/bugged all the main devs of bitcoin for sure to find out. But so far nothing concrete has come out on that front.

I don't know maybe gavin, mike, maxwell know ... but then a proper "sweep" on these guys would/should have atleast revealed something .. unless unless its an intelligence agency who knew how to wipe their trails in the first place (obviously this operating under the assumption that some people know about his identity and are not revealing it.)

PS: I think I need to cut down on crappy spy movies lol

I think he is a person who is a genus, with an extensive knowledge in Cryptographic protocol implementation, a early cypherpunk list contrubutor. most probably a Teacher or did teach in his career. He must have had a background in social activism, a privacy advocate, and a person who have been oppressed by the  government and the large corporate entities.

you are talking about the founder and senior devs of bitcoin. i think they are smart enough to wipe off any trails leading in or out, those they don"t want others to know

as far as the question if this is obliged to provide our information to govt- they are not. they can always say they don't keep any logs. and if they are obliged, then they 'll have to co-operate only to govt of the country where the site's server is present or the country in which the computer containing the logs is present.
there 'll be hell of a jurisdiction law issues  Tongue

Andreas M. Antonopoulos claims he was involved in cpyptocurrency development and research even before bitcoin existed. In his talks, he "warns" that he won't answer any questions about "Satoshi". Maybe, I say maybe He knows better.  Wink

I heard that he had a terminal illness before the launch and he died shortly after.

He was initially trying to get coins to pay Charon, but that changed when he found out that Bitcoin was not accepted there.

In the start of his video, you can hear him talk a little about him self and hear him say "I was involved into cryptocurrencies since late 80's"  The rest of the video is interesting as well but that's mostly the thing I was talking about.

Andreas M. Antonopoulos claims he was involved in cpyptocurrency development and research even before bitcoin existed. In his talks, he "warns" that he won't answer any questions about "Satoshi". Maybe, I say maybe He knows better.  Wink

TBH I had to google the guy up ... was he one of the founders ? cause I cant seem to get much of the guy except for his media coverage .. and his git doesn't show much ... not sure if I am looking correctly  Huh

In the start of his video, you can hear him talk a little about him self and hear him say "I was involved into cryptocurrencies since late 80's"  The rest of the video is interesting as well but that's mostly the thing I was talking about.

He was reffering to a few attempts during the late 80's and 90s when the cypherpunk movement was gaining traction. Alot of people in the movement were trying to solve how a cryptographically implemented decentralized banking system could be created.

I wasn't even old enough at the time but I guess none of those attepts succedes it's porpuse. Bitcoin was the first cryptographic currency and wasn't even built in existing protocols. That's intresing though, I had no idea.
