I can strongly recommend Bitx.co or simply www.localbitcoins.com if you want to go the exchange route.
Bitx just needs some ID proof and residence but they are very friendly and reliable. Localbitcoins is also safe to use, just make sure you follow the rules and read everything clearly.

By the way, I phoned Metroman (ATM in Kyalami) today (see previous post) and learned that they do not have bitcoins at the moment and that the owner has to come back etc. Looking forward to see more Bitcoin ATM's in SA.
