Do miners effect each other?

Hi,

Do the miners have effect on each other if you mine multiple coins (with multiple miners)? Does the overall hashrate go down?
Is it more profitable to mine only 1 coin at a time?

Of course miners affect each other. Otherwise everybody would be mining everything
