A progress update from Angrywasp on discord, hardfork will happen in a couple weeks:

Jus a quick update. Ledger support for version 2 bulletproofs has passed initial testing and is ready for the testnet. Some patches to the PoW algorithm will be rolled into this release as well, which i am part the way through done. Got to finish that and get the ledger app packaged up for distribution and we should be good to go for some public testing with a view to a hardfork in the next couple of weeks. Got some other handy new features too, like autodetecting the optimal number of mining threads for the daemon, syncing from external checkpoint files, fixes to the slow syncing which has been a problem for a while. Also added the daemon code for the woocommerce plugin to not require a locally running daemon and wallet, which will please @ukminer, and have a bit more work to do on the plugin side for that. So overall, going to be a good update. Fixed some problems and got some new goodies. I will advise when the testnet is updated so we can get some testing on the new bulletproofs and ledger, which should be in the next 2-3 days.

Update is in testing, a hardfork will be scheduled in a bout a week:

@everyone Nerva 0.1.6.0 binaries are now up for the testnet, which will fork in about 1000 blocks. The dropbox folder contains testnet CLI binaries, ledger app and updated GUI binaries with ledger support. These are for testnet users only. Don't want to testnet, then wait for a week until public testing is done and a mainnet hardfork is scheduled. besides the ledger support, we got a few new things in this release:
- Support for auto-detecting the optimal number of mining threads (pulled from monero)
- Support for Monero's latest bulletproofs which decreases tx fees and block sizes
- Simplified terminal output to clean up the CLI
- Ability to sync with external checkpoint file for faster syncing. I'll talk about that a bit more when i update atom to distrbute checkpoint files
- Batch sync is fixed. Slow syncing is now a thing of the past
- PoW changes to increase hashrate and sync speed considerably after the next fork
- Bug fixes affecting exchange wallets
- Basic analytics to help nerva build a node map. Can be turned off with a flag. I'll talk about that some more before the server side goes live, to detail what information is collected and how it is handled.
So you can use these binaries for the mainnet right now as well, but there will be another release in a week or so when the testing is complete and a mainnet fork height is determined

Disclaimer: DO NOT use the ledger app for mainnet funds at this stage. it is intended at this point for testing and is released with these test builds. For mainnet funds, you should wait until the ledger app is published on the official nerva website.

@everyone. Testnet has been running well, so a mainnet hard fork has been scheduled for block 477500, which is in about 5 days from now. Plenty of time to update. On the ledger side of things, had a few people test it with no problems. I'd still like more testing and feedback before publishing it on the website though. So if you have a ledger, you can help out by using it with the testnet and making sure there are no problems. Bots are down for the moment getting a rewrite in prep for a new recruit to the bot army, so you're gonna have to head over to the website to download new binaries

Must update to 0.1.6.3, more details below:

@everyone Binaries for 0.1.6.3 are up. rolls back the hardfork height so it will not take place at previously scheduled. everything else works fine. so ledger will still work, you'll get a bit of a boost on your mining and sync speed, just the hardfork won't happen just yet. a potential problem has been found in the PoW algorithm and it needs to be investigated. could end up being nothing. but if it is something, it's better to know that a few days before the fork rather than a few days after.

However. there is a but to this story. the binaries are now going to have a minimum supported version of 0.1.6.3. this is to prevent people who maybe running 0.1.6.2 at the fork height from disrupting the network. the seed nodes are currently configured to accept connections from old nodes, but these binaries will not. so you may notice a lack of connections until more people update. you can override this by using the --min-version flag like
./nervad --min-version 0.1.5.6 if you have trouble getting connections. but it is 100% not advised to run it like this at around the time of the (now defunct) hardfork and it is better to just see how you go with connections before using this option.

A couple of announcements from Discord:

@everyone. website has had a bit of an update and with it a new non-mandatory release to 0.1.6.5. This release is mainly a maintenance release with the code rebasing to the monero master branch. There are some bug fixes, general improvements and a few minor features. The ledger app has also been updated. Updating either one will require an update to both if you use the ledger. This release also removes some of the old monero backward compatibility code, which introduces a few breaking changes which all people should be aware of.

First off, all but very recently created wallets won't open. backward compatibility in the wallet.cache file has been removed. so you either need to update the wallet by deleting the .cache file and letting nervad regenerate it, or just reimport it by seed. Secondly, the blockchain database has had some old crufty code removed. it is not necessary to resync the chain, however resyncing it will result in a chain that was (in my testing) around 10% smaller in size. so it is something worth doing.

If you decide to resync, you can get a quick sync file from

Overall, a little bit of a PITA for this update, but it is worth it to remove old backward compatibility support and give us a cleaner codebase and smaller blockchain sizes

Fact is we're still here. I'm currently working on an eth wrapper so we can create some potential use case for xnv within the DeFi sphere. Updated today to fix a recently exploited vulnerability in the monero p2p code. I'm working on a new rebase version of xnv and looking at potentially chain swapping to a brand new updated chain using previously noted wrapper token. Donated some money to help kids in the Ukraine with some community donations. And that's within the last 2 months. So I mean if that's what a dead coin looks like then I wonder what a coin that is actually dead looks like
