How does one take advantage of a spread in the prices ? say hypothetically  :

BTC ask = 800   BTC sell = 900 (just so its easier to do calculations here )

Are there any strategies one can use to take advantage of the situation ?
The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

You pay 1$ more and ask 1$ less. Now you have 2 orders on top of the depth. If things work perfectly, you buy and sell and make 98$ profit (minus fees).

Hmm yes I did think of that but these days with bots getting in that whole process is not as optimized ....but thanks for that .. any other ways one could potentially use the spread to their own advantage ?
