Hello people of the bitcointalk forum..

I'm bringing you the story of one man's legal struggle to have medical marijuana in Ireland.

Mark became blind from Glaucoma 5 years ago, and finds cannabis to be extremely beneficial, and has had bad reactions to prescribed painkillers.
I am from the same part of the world, and avid bitcoiner, and would like to reach out to the good people of this online community,
that if you find it in your hearts to donate a small amount of btc, however miniscule to help this man with legal costs etc, to aid his cause.

Here is the story:

http://talkofthetown.ie/2014/01/24/dundalk-man-presents-himself-to-gardai-with-cannabis-and-asks-to-be-charged-in-order-to-challenge-law/

If you wonder what my connection is, and what are my motivations for helping, just read the story. If you feel like supporting, please do.
I, myself have only read the story this morning, and before that i didn't know Mark Fitzsimons. I have since contacted him on facebook (he wasn't hard to find, as we're from the same town and have mutual facebook friends) and i told him that i would like to help. I sought his permission first before i posted anything here. This can be backed up and verified by either me or him.
I would also add that i am not doing this for myself. Bitcoin as you know is fully traceable, all transactions to the wallet can be 100% audited and are 100% public, available to see to anyone and 100% transparent.

If you support this and would like to donate, however small, then please use the following address to contribute:

I'd be glad to inform you!

As an aside, i posted this message on Saturday morning after reading about Mark's story.

The link i posted was to a local newspaper, who carried the story.

The story was also picked up in the national press, indeed Irelands foremost newspaper ran a story on the matter:#

http://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/blind-man-asks-to-be-charged-with-cannabis-possession-to-challenge-law-1.1666863?fb_action_ids=10152156419980349&fb_action_types=og.recommends&fb_ref=.UuKMUnQqjVM.like&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582

And now it looks like he is going to take this further, by running for election to Europe:

http://www.dundalkdemocrat.ie/news/local-news/mark-launches-euro-election-campaign-after-whirlwind-response-to-cannabis-stance-1-5836830

..any further developments, i will post them here..
