That might be true but it is also possible you are buying at 7k USD now and at the end of the year it is 14k USD again so you're about 65-80% above your maths. I do personally trust in and hope for bitcoin.

I think people still buy Bitcoin because they believe that the value will increase again before the year ends. They are taking risk to invest in Bitcoin despite of the price today.

A lot of this is speculation- I think BTC has much more room for growth over the next five years than precious metals. The crypto market as a whole is still tiny and even a relatively small amount of new institutional interest can cause another boom. Just be patient.
