Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

40$ a Gigahash?

That is crazy expensive. All other companies are selling Hashing power at around 3 to 7 dollars per GH/s.

Why would anyone buy into this?

Quote
NimbusMiner hardware is provided from either off the shelf 65nm products or from NimbusMiner's own 28nm hardware as it comes into service from it's own pre-ordered purchases of Monarch chip production.

Ah, they are still using 65nm gen 1 products....no wonder it is so expensive. Definitely not worth the money. Not by a longshot.

Price looks to be a medium-sized premium over BFL's existing 68nm hardware, which (at this point) will not ROI. So I get where they're going with this, but it's definitely not going to be profitable.

Sadly, that won't stop people from buying GHs. Maybe they'll justify it to themselves by calling it a "hobby".

That is crazy expensive. We are specifically excluding BFL from any group buys. They taught me a valuable lesson already once.

BFL has no soul.

Corporations may be people, but I think the lack of soul is pretty much par for the course.

Wow, they will turn on mining for 4 times the price $40 vs $11 while customers wait for the monarchs are activated and the cheaper cloud mining is activated.  BFL is unscrupulously.

So much for them promising to never do something like this.  They could've at least waited for a month or two after their customers Monarch's launched.

So many things I want to say, but only one reason I can't say them. At some point I will have to decide whether to continue to stay silent for the sake of a certain person I know well who works there or write the novel that I've been planning for the better of the community... Only time will tell I guess, because it's obvious neither they nor their customers can stop themselves due to their greed.
