Hello, im new but im learning fast.

i have a problem tho.

I have 2 mining boxes im trying to get stable

each box is built with;

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo

SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 with Boost x 3 gpu

G.Skill F3-8500CL7S-4GBRL 4gb ram

AMD Sempron 145 2.8GHz Socket AM3 Single Core cpu

and Corsair RM Series 1000W Full Modular Power Supply

I have it built in a crate that allows good air flow and the cards are apart with power risers.

im useing BAMT at the moment and ive got a conf file set up to do about 640-650kh/s with all 3 cards but after a few hours the card my display is plugged into just dies, but the fans still spin.

If i just run with 2 cards there is no problem at all.

below is my conf for BAMT. Let me know if its better just to use windows or anything else if its BAMT causing the problem.

any help will be brilliant

thanks

On first glance, remove the vectors line (not used in scrypt) + the shaders line (TC overwrites this value).

I am also not sure about this, but i do believe sgminer can work with BAMT.  I would give sgminer a shot with the 24k TC optimized bin.  Just set your TC to 24k in your config to match.

I always recommend Win7 x64 for <= 4 cards, or Win8.1 for > 4 cards .

Linux is nice if you know exactly what you're doing in both setup and maintenance / troubleshooting, but you will find more assistance if you are on the Win platform.

Not a chance.  Win7 install is ~25-27gb alone, unfortunately.  32gb would work, but no windows updates!

As a side note, i just realized i am using your board (GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3)  in one of my 7950s rigs.  It's purty  Smiley

That drive would work, yes.  Anything over 32GB is safe.

However, I always recommend SSDs over mechs.  Yes, the SSDs are (a good bit) more expensive but they afford your rig far less downtime in the event you have to do IO work like reinstall drivers, OS, updates, ghosting, etc.

I know you are maybe not going to go SSD, but my 3 go-to mining SSDs are: Kingston SSDNow V300, SanDisk SDSSDP-064G-G25 , and SanDisk Ultra Plus SDSSDHP-064G-G25.

I am using a ton of Sapphire boost cards, and actually 4 in that specific board.

Go with SGMiner 4.0.0 using the optimized 24k TC .bin.  (Link in my sig).  Note that you MUST use a TC of 24000,  lookup-gap of 2, and -w 256.

Using sgminer 4.0.0, i am running most of my 7950s @ 1100/1500 using the following parameters:
Code:
--no-submit-stale --thread-concurrency 24000 --gpu-fan 90 --intensity 20 -w 256 -g 1 --api-listen --api-allow 127.0.0.1 --gpu-powertune 20 --lookup-gap 2

Getting ~660-680khs on most of them.
