Hi guys,

I have a VERY small mining farm, with 25 GPUs
-7 x GTX 1080ti
-1 x GTX 1070ti
-3 x GTX 1070
-13 x RX 570/580
-1 x R9 290x

I want to build another 12 GPU rig, I already have a spare GTX 1080ti. What should I do?

I want to buy another 5 x GTX 1080ti and wait for the GTX 11 series for the rest of the 6 cards, do you have any suggestions?

You can take 13 1080ti with hiveos+asus minig expert and 2xintel dps 2200 bb. Nice setup.

I agree it seems like a nice setup.

But this wasn't my question. I'm asking myself which cards to buy.

Nobody knows about a release date, price, hashrate, power cons, etc, your question is incorrect. No data for calculate ROI.

I need help making a decision.

If you were me, would you buy 6 x GTX 1080ti or wait for next gen, considering I already have 25 GPUs in my house?

but i make a decision before they released one good pill for 1080 ti, so you can buy it now and don't wait for miracle.

Do you think I have a good strategy to buy 6 x GTX 1080ti and wait for next gen to add another 6 x GTX 1180 in the same rig?

I think better to start mine asap, and then sell cards here or on ebay if you want upgrade...

every day of waiting you freezing your fiat money...

Its hard to know how any future card will perform, let alone the costs. And that is if you can even get them before mega farms in China buy them all in bulk. I'm sure they will give a boost in hash power because of ddr6, but I doubt there will be much of a drop in power. I am sure they will be incredibly expensive and unavailable for a while.

Kind of hard to answer when nobody knows release date etc - if you want to get into mining, just weigh the pros and cons.

Going back to the OP's question, i would simply suggest to just wait for the 11 series cards.

Given all the uncertainty of mining right now, investing in equipment that could potentially be obsolete in 2-3 weeks time is really unwise. I say "potentially obsolete" because the first batch of Bitmain Z9 ASICs should ship out then and at that time only will we know if profitability will still be there for GPUs.

Whenever it gets released, it'll probably be sold out in seconds.  Difficult to use this data point to make decisions, unless you have some kind of unique inside info.

Personally, i would buy 1080ti besides already know hashrate generated in each algo as well as its performance.
when compared with 11series we don't know yet how much the price?, how its performance? And hashrate generated? Unless we only know the month of release is also still uncertain

You do realise that the time to get your money back if you buy a 1080ti is close to a year currently if you factor in electricity cost, right?

Interesting dilemma,
We are all anticipating the 1180 launch and actual performance, but waiting to see what may put you in apposition to overpay for the latest and greatest model or waiting on availability. I have been deliberating on this my self, but identifying the lost revenue that you could have made during the next 45 days should be taken into account.
Your thoughts?

There is actually a third possibility, that bios mod tools for the 1080ti surface somewhere, sometime this year. The hope would be that these tools do for the 1080ti what happened for the 480/580 class cards.

If you could get 10% - 20% lower power draw and some increase in the hash rate, it might narrow the performance difference between a 1080ti and an 1180.
