I think at least 10% of this forum activity was in giveaway threads,

MODS sorry but this was  NOT GOOD IDEA!
Giveaway threads were large part of making this forum more active and promote coins

You guys already messed up this forum once when you created special sub-sub forum for all altcoins not one main, Dont do it again!

Hate to break it to you but ALL of the Alt Section doesn't amount to 10% of the total traffic to this site.

So just imagine how unimportant "Alt Coin Giveaway" threads are.

Don't over estimate your importance.

This sub forum is referred to by most mods and long time members as the Alt Trashcan and was created simply to keep this garbage out of the main forum.

Logically a giveaway subforum here would make sense. No idea why they simply didn't do that. I expect much less activity here though without any giveaways ... I don't mean the entire site, just the alt subsection.

I'll also add, as someone brand new to cryptocurrencies, I only found this forum because of a linked giveaway somewhere else. And as someone who just starts out, the giveaways help a lot, as far as learning how all the exchanges work.

Giveaways are an excuse for the coin to be premined and for them to give out a little coin while keeping the rest for themselfs. You would think the Dev would just mine their own coin and ask for donations. If it's a crap/shit coin they would get no donations and the coin will die. This will also help lower the amount of crap/shit coins be released. Since now they need to bring something new to the table instead of bribes/giveaways.

You can get a free coin from the coin's own forum. Check my post above for an example of a giveaway thread that is perfectly fine. Really now that I think about it even more than I did before, why the hell do people care in the first place if they have to post their address on another forum rather than this one? Thats the only difference.

This makes no sense, they were popular so you are banning them.  Many users don't like them, but they are only a small part of the sites traffic.  You want users to go elsewhere, but bitcointalk is where most people start, so why not grow your user base?

Going to other forums is more registration and as this site has demonstrated, more risk from hackers.  Granted that's my problem but you seemed to have a great community here, why exclude segments of it if there isn't really any harm?

Your forum your rules, but when you finish the upgrade to the new forum software will you be able to reinstate the altcoin giveaways?

Yeah, I always hate this excuse when people claim pre-mines are for giveaways. These giveaways are just free publicity for crapcoins to give cryptoplebs some free worthless coins and they always lap them up regardless of crappy name etc.
