He's 11 years old, and naturally been hearing a lot about it for a couple of years
We've officially moved to bitcoin allowance per his request (which is the part I'm most proud)
After a bit of research and discussions he has a wallet but most of his btc is on a watch only address  I maintain
Told him that if he would have done it a year ago he would have been a rich kid 3:-)

If anyone feels like sending him a welcome satoshi -1NexxhabPEQC1ZAnizsDpVSFXZAze5hPmr

Cheers

That's great but:

Call me cynical but could this be a way simply to solicit donations?

Just like 99% of the posts in this forum.
The only one I trust a little bit is the food donation. It pops up on the front page from time to time.

I was hoping to see a child and his parents holding a cardboard sign with a wallet address on it so I could send 0.05BTC (although not posting pictures of your children on the internet seems like a common sens idea  Cheesy )

Will probably send a small amount later today out of kindness though

As cool as it is that your child is into bitcoin and is allowance is in bitcoin.  I don't think it's cool or appropriate to ask people to send money to your child.

Imagine if someone came into work and said "I started giving my kid $5 a week for doing chores around the house....anyone want to chip in and give some money?".  It's just rude and not needed,  it's up to you to pay your kids allowance, not others.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but when it comes to raising kids I believe in teaching them to work for what they want in life, not ask/beg for it.

and a couple did, and i thank them for it Smiley but mostly just proud of my kid

Told him that if he would have done it a year ago he would have been a rich kid 3:-)

If that happened, you would be the rich dad, and your kid only would have a huge balance in a watch-only address lol.

Yup. Totally true. It's like showing your kid a lot of money and saying that it's his, but he only has the rights to see it, and doesn't actually own it.

xD kind of, however it's a separate address, and we agreed he can take control whenever he feels it's safe
he understands the risks but doesn't want to go to paper wallet so this is kind of a happy middle.
i also discussed it here on a thread a few months ago

Experiencing how net forums work is way more useful than seeing how Bitcoins work ;-) Good on you though. As a parent of a 3-year-old,  the important part is just getting them used to it.

To the next generation!

Well I'm thinking of popping out a crumb snatcher within the next year or so... does that qualify me to get donations Tongue

But definitely a great way to get the next generation involved no doubt Smiley

Reasonable. I guess you don't want him to spend his btc on some stupid or illegal things as well  Wink

My future grandchildren will all use bitcoins EXCLUSIVELY for all their currency needs. PLEASE donate to a trust fund I am setting up for them now in BTC. By the time they are born and reach age 21 it will be worth billions of fiat, bitches! Oops, forgot to leave the address...
