I invited a girl I liked to spend holidays at my place and to make a good impression taking her out almost every day. The only thing she paid for was a train ticket and I ended up spending half of my life savings in 1 month (equivalent of 6 months wage). I later found out she was happy to visit me anyway and would be even if we just ordered food instead of going out and stuff. Anyway, we had fun so I don't regret it.

Believe it or not, keeping it real impresses a woman more than trying to impress her Smiley  This won't be the dumbest thing you'll ever do for love, though! hehe

Don't you guys have female friends to give you tips and such?

While daydreaming on the job, I was thinking about why I had gone to such great lengths to impress girls in college. One of my more memorable accounts was when I was a freshman. I had this girl in my intro to bio class, her name was Stacy. Stacy had a giant rack and a really nice bottom. The kind that makes you do a double take if she were to bike past you. I was really into Stacy but we weren't really going anywhere with me being stuck in the friend zone. I had her facebook, so I began cyber stalking her profile. Everywhere she went, every picture she took--I had a vicarious memory of. I'd imagine I was there with her and feel happy for a moment in time.

So anyway, while I was creeping her to the max I jogged down what she liked to do, her favorite bands, restaurants, etc. I thought that the more things we had in common the better the chances of me popping the "date" question. Needless to say she felt kinda uncomfortable that I was mentioning all her favorite things all the time and we eventually stopped talking altogether. Freshman desperation, don't do it.

Wow... that sounds pathetic as hell.. lol

But everyone goes through it, there's always that girl or girls in your life that help you transform into a man.

The dumbest thing I ever did for love was trying to make it work when it was clear it wasn't going to work. Don't do it, otherwise you're gonna get a place together, be psuedo-happy for a while (cause it's new and everything) but then be pretty unhappy for a while. Then you'll drift apart while still trying to force it to work, and then bam! You'll have to sort through all the crap in the apartment, wait for your ex to move out and move into your ex-best friend's place (because they're shagging now), and somehow figure out how the hell you're going to make the payments on your place by yourself.

Like I said, don't force things if it's clear it isn't gonna work.

Thank goodness I get enough supplementary income from mining...

[Edit:] Forgot to include all the stuff about mental anguish, regrets, break downs at work, sleepless nights, needing to see a counselor, thinking about your psychologists recommendation to take medication, animosity all over, and never seeing a person you care deeply about ever again.

Indeed - but those wanting that fairy tale aren't your keepers, at least not until they're ready to settle.

Think of that fairy tale chick as an extended one night stand Wink

Wait a minute... I'm giving love tips now?!? First I'm ragging on casinos, giving hardware advice, debating about laws and shit... Jesus. Somebody please find me a thread to troll! lol

I have female friends but all they do is feed me that "I'm sure you'll find someone" crap, I think the best moment I ever had was when my Jewellery teacher had the radio on and this radio host was chatting to a girl about someone she dated and she had about 6 boyfriends previously despite being really young which totally describes the situation I'm in. That's the kind of shit I have to deal with here in the UK lol, I swear it's this country and not me that's the problem, the big thing I need right now is money so I can leave and find girls outside which I'm working on right now Tongue.

Hmh, I don't know about dumbest thing, but I did try texting a girl once and that backfired very badly, in fact, because it was text I actually posted the conversation to a friend and even she went "wtf" over the reaction to me trying to ask her out, sometimes I've asked girls I know wtf was going on and nope, just turns out I'm really unlucky and the girls I've tried for are batshit insane lol.

It was a spur of the moment thing and I instantly regretted it. She was just telling me about herself and when she told me she was a vegan I stupidly blurted out "me too" lol. Had to keep it up for months. Bad times.

But you know, the batshit insane ones give life that extra little spice.  Wink

Just be sure not to have a lamp thrown at your head. And if does come to that, just make sure you've practiced a lot of dodgeball beforehand. Yay excitement!

If you want a proper relationship yeah, keep it real - if you want a quick fling or affair (in which case I wouldn't say it's "for love", but "for sex" - these are related but different) then sure, go the "impress the ladies" route.

For myself i've only ever had luck in the love life with girls who started as good friends.

Best tip of all:
Stop treating women as a mysterious entity that you need to hack, it'll make you more relaxed and you'll find it easier to talk.

I approve (especially since it's a How I Met Your Mother reference)! In theory, one day we all find someone, that for us, is above that line. Or we die miserable and lonely (or awesomely happy depending on your perspective).

I think that when you're in love, sometimes there is no thought process. At least it feels accurate in my case.

One of my exes... I honestly have no clue why I got with her and why it even lasted a year and a half. Truly a horrible and crazy (not just regular lady crazy) person.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Seriously.

The thing I posted up earlier is actually a true story for me. I tried making it work, but it didn't. Sometimes I feel like I got the short end of the stick though. Really wished it was over before we got a place together and I bought a ring and put down money for our future and stuff. Sometimes we humans are so ridiculous.
