According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Ok so let me get this straight, you can mine this coin from the wallet itself? How does that work? Will this be user friendly or super complicated. Also if you mine from the wallet how do pools work?

I was wondering on the same thing actually, can you actually mine from the wallet withouth any pool? And will mined coins go directly to your wallet?

If it's not pre mined how will max himself profit out of this?
Those 2 devs probably give him lots of max coins for free, they will mine it with botnets or have pre mined it.
Something is corrupt here, i don't think the devs are being honest

Maybe he's not wanting to profit, or maybe the devs have promised him some of thier coins they'll mine.

all i can say guys is who really knows? we are all exposed to propaganda from every angle. Im not coming down on either side but the question remains: can we afford to be wrong? say our effect on climate turned out to be marginal would it still not have been better to clean up our act than take a chance? if there is a so called tipping point where things become irreversible- where are we then? What are you on about? There is a HUGE difference between creating pollution and CHANGING THE CLIMATE. ughhh

I'd laugh if it was pre-mined. Keiser is such a troll.

Maybe he's not wanting to profit, or maybe the devs have promised him some of thier coins they'll mine. Keiser is always in for a profit. Here is what i think: The devs approached max with this idea and promised him lots of maxcoins if he would agree. This means easy promotion for the devs, basically max himself will do all the advertising and the devs make money.

Probably, but taking money from a coin that doesn't even exist yet seems like a risk. I can't imagine he'll make much from this anyway. If the coin turns out to be premined or a scam it's gonna look bad on him as well.

I have a strong feeling all of Bristol Uni has built some insane mining rigs and is ready to mine the shit out of Maxcoin on release. There is no hope in buying this coin fairly cheap on an exchange after it comes out.

Yea they probably will have a GPU or a linux standalone optimized miner for AVX or something that the wallet GUI doesn't have.. essentially premining the heck out of it and releasing it a few weeks later when the difficulty is high and price is high enough to start dumping. Its a standard trick and one that people wont find out since there are no pools, no way of knowing other than reading the blockchain... I'm guessing you will see most coins go out to a select few addresses for the first few days and we will know then that they are running a different version of a miner upon release. There needs to be a better and safer way to release coins to avoid all of this.. however incentive is always there to hack it because you can make money by making people believe they are mining it just like everyone else... instead they are padding someone elses wallet while wasting their time .
