Wish Max knew this coin was doomed like all the other CPU coins unless he gets a GPU miner out before release. I guess we can all watch the price crash when the Estonian, 10 million KH, botnet sell wall hits Cryptsy.

isn't it possible to only allow pools with botnet protection? a maximum limit of 25 or 50 workers.

I'm only interested if it's CPU-only. I've never bothered mining anything before as my GPU is ancient and not up to the task. This was going to be my first foray into mining. Hope people vote "no" since we need more decent CPU coins.

No for GPU, as there are botnets there are scrypt farms waiting to rape this coin, GPU coins are not for average users as they don't have high end graphics cards

I have shocking news for you. You can't properly mine anything with a regular cpu, it hasn't been possible for a long time, and nobody can change that.

Exactly. Mining for most coins has basically become an arms race. Don't let the arms dealers win, Max! Keep it fair for everyone. I have shocking news for you. You can't properly mine anything with a regular cpu, it hasn't been possible for a long time, and nobody can change that.
Yes, but only because GPUs hash faster. The difficulty target will go up MUCH quicker if an army of GPU farms are involved. But it won't go up as fast if there's no GPU miner and people WILL be able to mine it on a CPU, just like they used to with Bitcoin when it first launched. More FUD from the GPU farmers methinks.

THe algorithm is already published for GPU (NVIDIA) and it wont be hard to take the getwork stuff out of hte source and port it over to the GPU implementation since there are probably small fixes possibly magic numbers thats it.

Only whoever makes the opencl script himself, or has a huge botnet, will profit from this coin. Or if your name is Max Keiser.

Are you going to release an external miner? Otherwise I don't see how pools will be available at launch. Seeing as this is supposedly a different implementation of SHA-3, everyone will be forced to just mine through the wallet solo initially.

You do realize that there will be a lot of people with CPU farms ready to mine this right? They got their practice with Protoshares. GPU or not there's going to be some whales on this no doubt.

Are you kidding me??? Have you ever mined anything in your life??? I have FOUR cpus at my disposal and I'd still get next to zero coins CPU mining. The arms race for CPU coins is much worse than GPU. You need the power of an entire house full of CPUs to get anything due to botnets. All these clowns arguing for a CPU coin either have ILLEGAL botnets, or they rented out like $1000 worth of Amazon servers to hash on. Let's not even get into the fact that someone probably created a hidden, close source GPU miner for this. So he'll be hashing along light years faster than all the CPU people regardless.
