gotta say guys for someone who has never successfully mined and only has a cpu im getting quite excited about this and hopefully can get my hands on a good few mined coins for the first time!

You should do ok if you jump in the MOMENT the pools (or coin) go live, be as fast as you can, early birds always catch the worm in Crypto!

Wallets are not yet released, so, no-one knows the answer to this question for sure. BUT the indication is (from the pre-ann) thatyou can mine directly from the wallet. When you can download the wallet then you can be 100% sure of this.

gpu miner = bad idea.
cpu only  = good idea

gpu miner = secure network
cpu only = botnet control

Seriously, the CPU supporters are either quite ignorant or botnet ops.

Heheh the botnet ops used bots to vote for CPU Cheesy

People who say botnets ruin CPU coins are idiots. Just like with any coin botnets are an issue. Bitcoin has them, litecoin has them. What makes people think that botnets can't use GPU's just as much as they can use CPU's?

I'm the first one who says that.

1) The coin was pre announced.
2) It will be a hype coin
3) Botnets will increase the difficulty to the maximum
4) No point for small miners to waste electricity.

Nor BTC, nor LTC was ''pre announced"

Hey, smexy. Don't waste your time. Time's precious.

In the Debug console you can type setgenerate true -1 and then you're solo mining with all your CPU cores. It would be better to mine in a pool though.
