Trust is great as proven by the developers continued effort to improve the exchange and reimburse any discrepancies.

You may lose when exchanging between currencies and a bug occurs, but these are the risks you take for newly developed technology.

For an unregulated decentralised commodity system e.g. mtgox, btc-e and cryptsy what more could you ask for

If you do not want to take the risks best to go to a bank.

I have no affiliation with cryptsy, btc-e or mtgox and have been trading on these exchanges for over 12months with the only issue being missed trades due to lag or bugs (price to pay for something that could return great value) therein lies the risk.

You know what is funny? I trade on coinded up for an example... when they have issues/or do upgrades/maintenance they always post a tweet before or shortly after (if there is an issue ) it is taken down. Then they even go as far as to tweet when its back up! I mean... really? That is night and day over cryptsy. Granted the site lags a bit, but every single one of my coins show up in a very timely manner.

Look, we all know that sites will have issues. I know many of us who are hard on cryptsy would forgive them easy if they WOULD JUST COMMUNICATE!

Free SIGNs giving everyday. Be part, do not miss!.

There is one alternative https://www.coinmarket.io
Its still pretty new but the devs/support are speaking with their users.

Doesn't trade in what I need unfortunately, only vircurex does, and I'm dubious about that place.

Hard to say.  But I automatically always assume some 50% of haters of anything are naturally pessimistic

They did undergo some headache recently with the bitcoin boom while upgrading servers and all that. Which is naturally to be expected with any sudden hurricane of traffic, but they manged to stay online the entire time and are good people.

You may lose when exchanging between currencies and a bug occurs, but these are the risks you take for newly developed technology.

So when airbags came out as new technology would it have been acceptable to say, "there's a bug where they can go off when you drive but it's a risk you take for new technology".

When energy efficient homes are built, should the realtor add, "well these new solar panels are a new technology and prone to catching on fire but it's a risk you take"

No. If a website goes online that accepts your money (in any form such as BTC, LTC, etc.) and that technology fails to the point you have 1000 trouble tickets over the Christmas holidays, 133 complaints on your own forum and BCT's forum has almost daily posts from people suffering lost money - then you need to take that shit offline until you deal with the issues.
Cryptsy however continues to plod along, adding new coins, and basically doing nothing to alleviate the problem of missing/delayed funds. They won't even acknowledge it on their Twitter and I don't think that I've ever read anything on their site where they even acknowledge the issue.

If they'd just admit they can't handle their current traffic it might be more acceptable but they pretend that they are doing a good job and ignore the real issues. Getting Doge added was not a priority, new servers was.
