- To scam, using the bought account's reputation - To participate in multiple giveaways (although this is forbidden now) - To fake bids in auctions - To leave fake feedback in profiles
I can't think of any legit reason.

I can't think of any legit reason.
To promote a website, or to differenciate accounts, advertise, and so on People register new accounts to scam people or promote a site, but it is not going well. So, they buy established accounts to "improve" their credibility.

He got banned for sending unsolicited PMs. I don't think scammers even get banned either.
