I took the decision to switch from fiat banking assets into virtul assets. I picked up a bit of Bitcoin, but not much, as I was reluctant to use the online exchanges. I decided to run my dollars through domain name registrations and purchases, and to take the proceeds in Bitcoin. This seems to be paying off, but I need to review my buy-it-now prices. I've just had somebody claim Crypto Bounty .com for $950, and i think i undersold that by quite a bit. Still it hs made a nice profit for me. Also, somebody is front running BuyPureGold.com for $22,264, which is a bit excessive, and I haven't even got it up for sale.

Would you guys be interested in discussions about domain names in my new blog?

I realize the demand for a good domain name only when I need to buy one for any biz idea I think of. It keep saying not available, not available. I used to have around 100 domains, held them years but never launched the businesses that I was intended to. They expires and I do not renew them. I still have 8 to 10 domain names and few of them are in use.

My problem was I never planned before buying these domain names. I did not even care to lose them as well LOL. Seems like if I was a bit wise then I could make some good money from them.

I guess before buying any domain for future selling you need to have a visionary mind about your niche. Or - how do you do that?

I don't usually look for a name, I tend to see what's available at a budget price, and if I like it, I buy it or register it. I've spent a lot of time on the expired lists when I was switching out of dollars. I've made a lot of mistakes over the years, and I think Iread that only about 4% of the mame that domainers buy for resale actually get sold.

I've just realised the i put the Bitcoin Talk merit beggars list on Crypto Bounty. I might move that onto Talk Merit.

I saw business like this... People buy domain, create a niche website, generates few traffic then sell it for a good price. I used to keep eyes on eBay to see how it works but never figured out that how the buyers actually get benefited from it. If I have a niche website that is making money then why would I even bother to sell it in the first place?

Yeah, we all do mistakes and learn from it. That's a part of life. I did not have this 4% ratio things in mind. Seems like it worked on me LOL

If my memory serves me right then I guess I have seen a site with some screenshots of members begging merits. I think you can add it into your new blog, in a separate page with a dedicated menu since your new blog is all about your merit giving experience. It's up to you by the way.

You might be thinking of this page -
http://crypto-bounty.kat1.com/bitcointalk-beggars/

I moved it onto a sub-domain on the root domain of one of my multi-site hosting plans.  I used Kat1.com as the root domain becuase it's short, and I'm unlikely to sell it for much of a premium.

If any member want his entry reconsidered, then he can submit a support ticket via the Talk Merit support system -
https://talkmerit.com/support/

I probably won't change anything on that site in the near future, as i seem to have given myself too much to do.

It looks as if I may have undersold the name, as it is now listed for sale at Undeveloped. I'll watch the entry to see what happens. I'm not too stressed about it though, as i did make a profit of 10,000%. Smiley

I've got nearly 600 .com domain names, so 'best' becomes a relative term.

I went through a phase of thinking I needed half a dozen names for every project that I 'almost' started, but I've put four on Talk Merit, and this is probably a better idea. I did consider using Drupal as a CMS for all of the projects, but it is easier to set up each project using a dedicated CMS.

That's an insane number. I assume you are keeping them to have a good price in future. Are you personally advertising the names in one place or just left them the way they are hoping that someone will contact someday to buy. I am just curious how you are maintaining them. There are yearly renewal fees for them also. How do you manage that as well. It definitely cost you a lot for renewals.

https://upr8.com/
https://foxfoo.com/
http://namestag.com/
https://buyany.com/
These are the four domains?
I see on the buyany you have the list of some more domains. I am just trying to figure out the basic idea of how you maintain them by exploring the pages.

By the way I am not sure what is that holding you back to use wordpress CMS. Comparing the current tech stuffs, WordPress is the best in every aspects than any other blogging CMS out there. I am sure most of the developer/designer who know about website developing/design stuffs - they will also vouch for WordPress. I am pretty sure you are missing something.

I've just been chatting to a guy on Name pros, and he thinks Crypto Bounty is worth low to mid $xx,xxx to the right buyer, so I probably have missed out there. It's finding the right buyer that is the problem. I've got too caught up in the BT merits dramas. I need to get out more. Smiley

I'm comfortable with B2evolution, and it seems to do the job for me. For some reason, I've never liked WordPress. I created a couple of sites, but I took them down.
