Once again, Dogecoin is at it. Failing at everything it tries.  Yesterday Vault of Satoshi starting trading Doge for USD, -----a first. I figured things would be ok, but no, Dogecoin's value increased and people started writing stories of how it's detaching its peg to Bitcoin. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/dogecoin-weakens-bitcoin-dependency-us-dollar-exchange-opens-092341018.html#EZGlNAg

NOW after that failure, and after it's failure to get the Jamaican Bobsleigh team to the Winter Olympics, it's still trying again. And once again it failed, miserably too. It seems that Dogecoin was trying to raise funds to send another under"doge" Olympian to the Winter Olympics after his country's Olympic Committee and his Nation's leaders left him out in the cold.

Well it seems that Dogecoin once again FAILED. It raised the needed funds to send the Olympian to the Winter Olympics and just like the Jamaican Bobsleigh story, people are starting to write about Dogecoin's failure.
http://www.dailydot.com/lifestyle/dogecoin-india-olympics-shiva-keshavan/

Whew will Dogecoin realize that it's just a "joke" currency that should just curl up and die. Doesn't it know that cryptocurrency is only meant to be serious and for those who completely understand cryptocurrency. How dare it think that not taking itself so serious might actually create an environment where the common person might embrace it. The nerve of this crypto.

----Such sarcasm.  Grin

I guess I would be more supportive of the coin if many of the people who support doge were not such assholes who think their shit dont stink... along with saying will it be worth a $1 ect ect.

I do however, am thankful that doge did what it did with bringing new blood into cryptos. I think we all owe doge at least that.

We just have to wait and see what happens a year from now. That is a long time for a crypto. If its still holding strong who knows.

I think that some of those (myselft included) who believe that Dogecoin might go to $1 are basing their belief on how Bitcoin performed. The logic (and emotions) behind that theory is that the technology is essentially the same, but Dogecoin is non-threatening for the uninitiated. Bitcoin only boomed really big in the last couple of months due to the infusion of liquidity from China and the hope is that "what if" liquidity is fueled into Dogecoin, not just from Asian, but from everywhere that the internet reaches and "what if" something like "tipping" on the internet goes main stream. Dogecoin, due to it's billions of coins, is in a perfect position for that. Remember, most people aren't into math and it's much easier to tip 10 Dogecoins than to tip .000000453 of some other coin.

I don't know what will truly be Dogecoin's future. It may or may not be around. There will no doubt be a new kid on the block, perhaps something with a technological enhancement over all existing coins, something like Zerocoin but with an added flare to bring forth mass adoption. All I know is that all of us on BitcoinTalk are a part of something new and great.

Well the reason why I dont think it would be anything close to a $1 is because of the amount of coins. Of course that "could" change once mining stops, but the real test will be when all is minted and what happens after.
As I said before in another post, most of the thrill is mining, without the mining aspect of it I would lose interest rather quickly. Many of us are not day traders soo....it will be interesting to see what happens.

Best price to buy alts is when market cap was around 10000-50000$. Market cap over 50 million is already too much. But you never know. If market cap hits 500 million people will still complain. Cause they never bought it when market cap was around 50 million. Late comers always  tend to whine about price movements.

I AM A DNOTES FANS THE COIN ABOVE ALL OTHERS.

Too many coins. If it hits 1$, that means it's 3x as valuable as bitcoin. And it is at least a year behind in terms of development - ATMs, bit pay..

I think Dogecoin hitting $1 anytime soon really isn't feasible for exactly the reasons you noted. But, will it hit $1 in a few years, my belief is -- absolutely. All that's needed is something like YouTube to utilize it as a means of tipping. The thing that many see as a flaw (100 billion coins + maybe more each year after all 100 billion are mined) will actually be one of its greatest strengths. At a 21 million cap, as BTC is further embraced and spread out, fewer and fewer people will own 1 Bitcoin. Heck, I remember loosing 20 something BTC's trying to buy LTC when it went from .45cents to like $6. Well I switched my BTC's to LTC's, bought and then LTC went back down. LoL.  I sold all my BTC's months ago, before the rapid rise in price and if I could only get those 20 something BTC's back I'd be so happy. I'm certain that the guy who bought that pizza for 10,000 BTC's might feel the same. Sorry to digress.

My point is that as BTC becomes more popular and expensive, fewer people will have a whole coin. Now try to tip someone on YouTube with your decimal point zero zero zero zero, etc. People aren't going to see that as ease of use for that type of transaction.  Dogecoin however, with its billions of coins is perfectly set for something as ubiquitous in nature as tipping on YouTube.  Something like that is coming, maybe not this year, but it's coming. If Dogecoin is still around then it will benefit. Dogecoin lacks the infrastructure that Bitcoin has established. But Bitcoin has years, Dogecoin is 7 weeks old.

I'd be surprised if Dogecoin was around in even a years time, but maybe its million newb army might carry it along. And if tipping was going to be implemented on Youtube it'll probably be with Bitcoin. I don't think donating decimals is that big of an issue.

Here's a post from one of those noobs. He/She (GoodShibe) writes a daily post entitled. "of Wolves and Weasels". If any other alt-coin had such individuals and such a community, I would surely have been a member a long time ago.
This is what she/he is writing about: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/dogecoin-community-helps-send-indian-athletes-winter-olympics-1434515

Of Wolves and Weasels - Day 23 - Well That Was Fast (self.dogecoin)
submitted 1 hour ago* by GoodShibeOne Good Shibe
Hey All, GoodShibe Here!
I stepped away for like, what 3, maybe 4 hours last night?
I figured I should take a break, I've been on /r/Dogecoin far too much. I should spend some time with the family. Maybe get something to eat. Maybe see what's on TV - my PVR's like 95% full thanks to you guys, 'cause, yeah, I haven't been watching much of that as of late.
And in that time, not only did you put together a Donation thread you went and had them FUNDED in just under 3 hours.
Shiva Keshavan, Himanshu Thakur and Nadeem Iqbal are going to the Olympics now, because of you.
Their hard work, sacrifice, blood and tears will not be in vain.
Because of you.
It doesn't matter that their own Government doesn't believe in them.
You do.
Man, I love this community.
I love that, more and more, we're making our mark as truly a Global community of Shibes.
You know, it's funny how it all sort of blends together on the internet, but especially here on /r/Dogecoin. It's easy to forget that behind each name is a person, quite possibly in a whole other part of the world from us. It's easy to forget that each and every one of us has our own problems and pains and hardships.
And yet, here, in this sub, it seems - more and more - that behind the aliases and the Comic Sans there are no nation lines, people just get along.
I don't know why I haven't realized this earlier but, even after this fantastic work by the community, we don't seem to have a lot of bragging on this sub, you know?
Like, when someone mentions what country they're from, it comes up like an aside; Not with any of the usual, I don't know, pride, or fist-pumping that we usually associate with Internet Nationalism.
Do you know what I mean?
I feel like because we're a community here we have less of a need to define ourselves by the community we're from. And, for some reason, that just blows my mind.
I'm really trying not to break down into fits of hyperbole but... I've been on the net a long time. I remember when simply being able to 'chat' with someone online from another country was a mind-blowing experience. I remember how exciting it was - this idea that sitting there, at my desktop computer, I was communicating with -- having fun, exciting conversations with -- people a world away, that I would probably never meet, but somehow felt a connection to. People I would see every day, share stories with -- people that I would look forward to talking to.
I feel that excitement here. In this sub. Pretty much every day.
Like we are a part of something. Maybe something much bigger than we can ever truly know.
But, every once and a while, I feel like we get glimpses of it. That big thing.
Like how things... should be.
I mean, doesn't this just feel right? Like this is how the world should operate?
We see something wrong, we all come together to fix it. To make it right.
And we can. And we do.
Together.
I apologize if this just comes off like me rambling like a loon, I had a whole other post planned for today, but you all just went and changed everything.
In 3 hours.
Well freaking done, all.
It's 8:48AM EST, we're at 39.41% of DOGEs found. Our Global Hashrate is spiking from ~79 to ~99 Gigahashes per second and our Difficulty is holding steady at ~1206.
I don't know how long our Global Hashrate will be spiking for today, but if you can manage it, hit the mines while you can. The Halving is just over 2 weeks away.
As always, I appreciate your support!
GoodShibe
PS: for those that donated to the Bell Lets Talk Day thread, yesterday, please pop on by and see the news -- turns out that Bell's not taking donations directly for it (or if they are, I can't reach anyone who knows how to make it happen), so I've put forward a couple of options for Mental Health charities (that Let's Talk will be supporting) that we can donate to in the spirit of Let's Talk Day. Come by and voice your opinion. Also: Dogetipbot seems like it's still backed up as I'm still waiting on about 30K+ of tipped Donations (I've got you all added to a chart, documenting who gave what) to come through. I've been in touch with /u/Mohland so, it appears it's all about the waiting at this point.

Grin

IT WONT CURL UP AND DIE WITH $62 MILLION OF MARKET CAP SHARE BEING 5TH MOST POPULAR COIN

Damn it!!!! Again. F*cking Dogecoin dropped the ball AGAIN.

It just surpassed NXT and took the #5 spot on coinmarketcap.com.

This coin just keeps failing me over and over and over again.
