I think the combination of block chain technology and identity authentication is very high.
Because by blockchain, we can solve the trust problem, and our data will not be abused at will.

You might think it is good and best idea but I wouldn't agree upon that. Because with blockchain your data is public ajd stored across servers or nodes how people call them which means that they can be obtained by third party when you don't want that. Even in encrypted form it is possible that with better and faster computers in the future somebody will gain the ability to brake the code very easily and since everything is stored on the blockchain you guess it people can obtain your information.  You may think this is in 10,20 years time but would you risk it that somebody gets your information in the future and miss use it?

blockchain technology doesn't have to be decentralized! when we are talking about a currency made using the blockchain technology we prefer it to be decentralized but if this technology is used in another place for another purpose (for example storing some data, like in a hospital for patients history, by government for storing documents, for registering property,...) then it can be centralized and in full control of the creator (government, ...) and there is nothing wrong with that.

The main concern here is security though you are right that there is nothing wrong with centralized technology but it is vulnerable to direct cyber attacks. It is not only the cryptocurrency is important but also those kind of data you mentioned earlier.

Why would govenment control those data? I believe that there is law prohibiting some kinds of documents(data) to be manipulated. If they are eager to control it then there must be wrong with them.

It is possible for blockchain to solve identity problem. There was an ICO recently that raised money to used for a project to prepare an  Artificial intelligence which recognizes face and the identity of its users.

Indeed it will become hard synchronisation between the government and blockchain as they cant control it.

BUT, they can surely use it on their own as blockchain is free source and thus they can always develop their own project based on that. In India news coming from the thing air that they are willing to deliver the degree certificates, national certificates and much more data to the user with the help of blockchain technology. So I think there is always scope for many developments.

Identity is just set of our names, photos and all the personal info and I think it can be safely stored in the blocks and can retrieved safely. So its possible.

The thing is, government sanctioned hacking attacks are very well funded and it can attack large scale decentralized networks too. It will be much harder to take them down, but it can disrupt many of the nodes that are connected to these networks. We saw how many of the Bitcoin Core nodes got DDoSed, when other groups wanted it too fail.

The size of these Blockchains will also be enormous, if you look at the type of data that they would need to store. ^hmmmm^

Blockchain will challenge the status quo when it comes to identity procedures, that much you can bet on. I say why not? I feel like the better question to ask is when will this happen in our lifetimes? And the other query is will that system be censored or not because that would be scary to know your identity could be deleted at a moment's notice.

I think using blockchain technology our identity problem will be resolved. As we know that blockchain is a decentralized technology which can store all of our information.
