As expected I had some users asking about the PPS system and how much you will earn and all that.
A nice guy from an other pool, mindfox wrote a clear explanation about the Pay Per Share PPS system, and I think it cannot be clearer : you can see that answer on
our thread on cryptocointalkRead it, exactly the way I'm driving this pool.
and I would also make some clarifications about the pool / website strategy :- at first when I launched the doge pool a few days ago, I had one parameter I could not know : attractivity. I mean, I was not able to say how much people would come on the pool and think it's ok to stay; It's definitly a mix between marketing, a system up and running, people who are mining for doges, other mining for the concept of cryptos, others who don't want to mine on big pools who are already making tons and tons of coins AND... how much you are getting paid...
- For the question about attractivity, it's what makes the difference : if people had come faster and earlier, we could have hit a block already so the pool would be more stable than it is now, but you know we are just starting
@bonessy : saddly, our block statistics are NOT down, it's working perfectly well; just we had not hit a block yet… Doges you earn are coming directly from my wallet !!
- For that question about how much should the pool pay, I have 3 choices : pay the same amount than other pools, pay less, pay more
- same amount : that's what I try to do since the begining; You have to know that it's not something easy to adjust, because as difficulty varies a lot on the doge network, I have to adjust the "potential block amount we could get one day" / "what the other pools would pay for the same amount of shares, knowing that diff can ++ or --"
A difficult equation to resolve as it has a lot of unknown parameters - Pay less : why would people stay ? Not a strategy for PPS
- Pay more : It might a solution to get more people and get the global pool hashrate up and so hopping to hit a block more frequently; but the problem is that one day I will have to lower the miners earning as a pool cannot spend more than what it earns ( or maybe some days / weeks but not on the long term ). And people don't like to earn less when they had a comfortable salary...
I've already increased the "potential block amount we could get one day" by a factor of 1.2 since the begining
@bonessy : what happened that night : diff network drop, so the earning from other pool was actually better than ours; BUT if the the diff had increase, you would have earn much on our pool...
... what brings me to explain what I think in general about the PPS reward system : it will be the only valid system to make a crypto currency market stable because it's the only one who is 'smoothing' big waves of diffs, pool hoppers, multi pools who can kill a crypto network in 1H… And stability is what will make A or B people adhere to cryptos… Just an example, actually I'm traveling in switzerland, and I can assure you that people here won't adhere to a crypto with such ups and downs
In real life, people are stable, are looking for stability and it's the way it is ! So should be their currencies…
So I'm really happy we are having this discussion because running / mining on a pool is not only about "How much I will earn with my miners" (it can be, no problems if you want to) but it's also about :
- why are we mining
- what are we doing to make cryptocurrency to work ?
- is it a life just be looking at my black&white CGminer kH/s or WU ? (WU for people who understand what they are asking to their GPUs, kH/s for others)
- is it just about being hype...
- or nerd ?
So I will assure people I've already met and future users of the pool that for now the adventure continues. I'm at least running the servers for 6 month, and if we can't make it on doges, we will open other pools for other currencies. There will be polls and other discussions to know what you think and what you want.
Remember cryptos are an open source concept, and open source means everyone can/has to give an opinion to make the world better_TheQueen74
