Theymos is the owner of this forum and I think moderators get paid a small amount.

On a mission to make Bitcointalk.org Marketplace a safer place to Buy/Sell/Trade

Theymos is the most active/main Administrator. Yes all moderators and administrators are paid a split of 25% of the ad revenue monthly. Theymos has a secret algorithm to base mod payments off of so that no one can game the system and abuse the moderating position for additional pay, and yes he is paid under the same system as the rest of the moderators.

Being the Admin of this forum would not support you financially, its more like a nice monthly tip that the staff can use to buy a little something every month.

That's pretty honest of you to be honest (no phun intended). Still like you say, it's a nice tip to do something fun once in a while.

A lot. I'm probably actively here 4-6 hours per day, with the forums in the background checking in every 10 minutes or so for an additional 4-6 hours per day. Its still a volunteer job, the monthly bonus is just a thank you for what we volunteer to do. I'm constantly at my computer researching/writing papers and such, so I'm not dedicating X amount of time per day to moderate, I'm just here anyway.

Wow, that is a lot of tips. Do you use the money, or do you buy bitcoin with it? Smiley

It comes in the form of Bitcoins, and to each moderator they do what they want with it. I tend to hold half in Bitcoins, and put the other half into silver/gold.

Personally I use the moderator payment as my bitcoin spending money.  I buy random stuff from merchants that are taking bitcoin.
