i have installed and set up the gui miner exactly as many tutorials have said yet when i click 'start mining' it says connection problems even though i have wifi and am logged into slushs pool. please help.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Need WAY more details. like what OS, are you behind a router?
Do you have firewalls?

Check if your firewall or anti virus software is blocking any connections of the program, this is a common problem and is easily resolved, you can always check the console to see the error.

Open the "console" tab and see what is wrong.
