why do devs continue to premine even though they know it will ruin the coin?
are people that greedy?
The DevTeam didn't. All those blocks are the beta testers. the Devteam mined 1000 blocks, or enough to A) ensure the anchor block wasn't going to lose a hardfork battle out of the gate and B)ensure that there were enough blocks to support our few test transactions. We then went into open beta, and our hardware was quickly overwhelmed by the beta testers and the pools. You had just as much chance to enter the open beta as they did. Shoulda been watching better, kiddo.

Can't believe it's taken this long for a Galt coin to be released, tbh. Fantastic!! Renaming my mining rig to Francisco.

No I am the founder of the coin, and g4lt is our lead developer. care to elaborate on why the PREANN thread said mining will be limited to 1000 block for early adopters and resuming at launch? Which was today.

This is really a good coin! I have compiled over 30 different alt-coin wallets from source code and noticed alot of other coins embed HUGE premining in the source code... 1 coin's code was for 2,200,000 coins for block 1 for eample, the COINo coin --- here's the subsidy code starts at line 830 in main.cpp : int64 static GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64 nFees) { int64 nSubsidy = 0; if (nHeight < 2794284) nSubsidy = 35 * COIN; if (nHeight < 140) nSubsidy = 1 * COIN; if (nHeight == 1) nSubsidy = 2200000 * COIN; <-------------- 2.2 Million coins premined 1st block!!!!!! return nSubsidy + nFees; } I have also notice many other coins "slip" code like that in .... sneaky devils The galtcoin DOES NOT! Although a little premining is necessary for give-aways and promotions, alot of coin developers probably keep most of the premined. SO, THIS IS A GREAT COIN AND NO "BS" like the COINO coin i cited above! Inspect the source code before criticizing a coin! I support this coin - I think it is legit and also a very good idea. There are 4 mining pools and the DIFFICULTY level of GLT has been increasing, which indicates people are indeed mining it. Although the dev. team said they didn't care about exchanges, I think people should request that CRYPTSY ADD GLT - GaltCoin If someone starts an ADD GALTCOIN on the CRYPTSY FORUMS to REQUEST NEW COINS, I will definitely vote for GLT I'd like to see this coin on the exchange.

idk about the developers... I started mining GLT last week when I saw it show up here as a new coin I solo mined some, then I found a p2pool on that site and mined alot on that pool http://com-http.us/scrypt/so, do you consider us independent miners who solo & pool mined part of the pre-mining? I have nothing to do with the project. I just like to mine new coins when possible, trying to get on new coins before those big miners do.

I don't think even lites used testnet. It's a solution, but not one we had any particular desire to use when nobody else does.

50 coins 1000 blocks = 50,000 coins he said it was for developing, rewards for testers and contributers, & giveways/promotions. which is necessary for ANY coin to get promoted - you know that 50,000 isnt really much of a premine at all to do all of that.... Look at the # of premined coins of other alt-coins - maybe you should gripe to them especially that COINo coin with over 2.2 Million premined - block reward for miners only 35 coins why are you complaining about 50,000 coins Its a drop in a bucket, lol! As for testnet, does anyone actually use that? I have never used testnet on any coins, Instead of wasting your time crying and complaining, you should be mining some instead!

dude, all coins get premined to some extent.
also, sometimes plans change in the process of development. they probably did not expect many people to mine their coin but when pools & miners hopped on it, they said F__K it, lets just let them go with it...
Honestly, i don't understand what all the fuss is about. They didn't premine very many coins. I started solo mining when the source code was like 2 days old. You had the same oppurtunity as I did to get on this coin early. Why make such a big deal out of a small amount of coins?
Post your address and I'll send you a few coins dude, if it will make you feel any better. maybe if you ask the dev. nicely, he might comp. you some too.

Not necessarily devs. There are people who offer such services to increase post count for a thread and provide fake positive feedbacks. I had received a PM with one such offer here in bitcointalk.

thats just sad. I am a real person, a small miner, and not paid to fake posts. Since I have solo mined & pooled mined around 10,000 glt it is in my interest that the coin is worth something on the exchange. That is my only interest. I am not paid or bribed by anyone, if that is what you are insinuating BTW, i have been a member here long before this coin even came about. fake alt names? wtf? I am a member, not a noob. I check this site everyday for NEW ADDED COINS: http://com-http.usThat is where I found galtcoin, and it was very easy to solo mine at first before others also decided to jump on it too I also solo mined alot of marscoins ... you'd crap your drawers if I told you how many MRS i have

Here is the PM message that I received. It looks more like a template message since I am not a dev and I was just offering a service and had created a thread for that and within a few hours, I received this PM. Hey coin dev. I offer promotion for new coins/services/threads Smiley Smiley
I can get lots of users to comment on your main post or a number of posts. both: -General "reserved, +1, interested, yourcoin rocks". -Custom hand written or picked comments that you want. I also offer Comments&likes for the cryptsy helpdesk post but thats further down the road.
Were talking about 20/50/100/200/300/400/500 unique users commenting on your post any number of times to promote it. You can write down the comments you want but it costs a little extra.
*I charge a small bounty in btc for my work, But dont worry I ask to get paid after the work is done and you are pleased with it Smiley
PM me if you're interested Smiley
