As you have noticed bitcoin started to slide down on 10 May 2018 at $9000 mark and did not recover since then. Now, my question is, Is there a chance for Ethereum to overtake Bitcoin?

I don't think so. There's a lot of Bitcoin fanatics as well as people who heavily invested in bitcoin, so I think they would say it is not possible to happen today and in the future. So, let's see.
