Please explain how this is done and how you can assure the buyer that their private keys are safe and not exposed to anyone except them. That will be great starting point and will probably get you more sales also.
Certainly. It works in a similar way to transferring ownership of a regular www domain name. I could transfer ownership of a www domain name and I would not be able to find out the password (private key / seed phrase) of your hosting company.
Specifically, this is how the transfer of ownership works:
https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/16458/how-do-i-change-the-owner-of-an-ens-domain-using-myetherwalletThe exact method of transferring ownership with full owner ship is as follows
Transferring a Domain (Best Practice)
Search for your domain on etherscan.io
Copy the Label Hash.
Go to the Contracts page and select ENS - Eth Registrar (Auction) 0x6090a6e47849629b7245dfa1ca21d94cd15878ef from the dropdown menu.
Optional but recommended: set your preferred gas price via the slider in the footer.
Access and choose the transfer call. Paste the LabelHash from
http://etherscan.io/ into the _hash field.
Paste the address of the new owner in the newOwner field.
Unlock your wallet and send.
So, as you can see, all that is needed is for me to have the wallet address of the purchaser and I send the name to them.
Of course, regarding the the purchase itself, some may feel that I would take the Eth for the name and then run away without sending the name to them. This of course, is not going to happen. I would happily provide my personal details via legal identification but that is not neccessary. The purchase of the name can be done through two websites at present. In both cases, the names are held in escrow until the purchase is complete.
The websites are:
www.enslisting.comand
www.namebazaar.ioThese are very secure websites which run on the blockchain so security is guaranteed.
