Is Altcoinsection now unusable?

seriously the altcoin section of this forum is not useable anymore, i think altcoins are marketed there in such a speed each threat someone opens there disapears there within seconds at least in page 2-3

i doubt there is a single discussion there possible that excedes a single page.

Yes this is happening because of the bounty hunters,they have no idea of what they posting they will just write some irrelevant statements and try to increase their post count to complete their minimum quota.
All we can do is report the spam posts as you can,I have no better idea than this.

Completely unusable like other boards on this forum. It's a plague which is slowly but surely destroying the place. I have voiced my concerns recently about the altcoin boards and bitcoin discussion yet it doesn't look like anything is being done about it.

i feel your pain, i have decent thread i'm trying to get going in there, but it's hopeless nobody is going to see it, as soon as i write a message few second later it's already buried  

i even doubt that anybody in there is expecting to find any serious discussion

Closing the altcoin section would just move the spam/junk?
At least you can avoid it now. I am quite active there but have bookmarked the coins im interested in. Finding new coins worth looking at is very hard though via the forum

Yeah, there was a lot of serious discussion with 0 replies and all you can find specially in the altcoin speculation boards is the same questions asked multiple times like "what good coins to invest", x10 or x100 coins. LOL. Its really laughable to even check what's going on in that thread. Now that latest is that ETH vs EOS, which we all know that they touted as the next ETH killer.

Agree, and what's funny though at those bounties that just wanted their participants to post on Alternative cryptocurrencies thread. I mean why not exposed their project to different boards instead of a single coverage? I really don't get the logic behind their rule.

Back in December, I used to check it pretty often hoping to find right coin or ICO. It turned out that 99% of people post to shill complete junk. I learned it hard way. Sometimes I post there too but trying to stay on the topic.

It contributes too much money to bitcointalk and the crypto economy, and Theymos supports them.  He's stated that he doesn't want to do away with signature campaigns, so that's not going to happen--but he's definitely aware of how bad the problem is, and that's why we got the merit system.

Yes, the altcoin section is probably worst than Bitcoin Discussion and Economics combined.  Last time I visited, it looked like it was the place to be for illiterate bounty spammers (and all of their alt accounts).  They only venture outside Altcoin Discussion when they come to Meta to complain that they're not getting merits.

No, I think it's mostly Altcoin Discussion and Altcoin Speculation.  Those are the worst of the worst.

Don't get blinded by "some members" of Altcoins Board including the child board of Mining (Altcoins) will be closed.

So far I get useful info about Mining Rig such as:
- How to build a Mining Rig?
- How to choose recommended hardware?
And lots of other useful info on the Altcoins board especially in Mining (Altcoins).

Many members there are very competent and help other members with their writing in Mining (Altcoins)

Closing Altcoin discussion would mean that we would have thousands of people posting their bullshit in other parts of the forum. At least right now it's only confined to certain boards.

Meta would be spammed to the ground with questions about why it was closed. Closing it isn't the option.

actually i don't seem to be able to post reply or open thread in there even if i am a member, as specified in the description of the board. However the serious discussion board already seems reasonable enough to have some thread started

The solution for this can be the better bounty managers they need to create such rules like spread the weekly posts in all around the forum and keep spamming in the same board will result in the disqualify without any payment but still this cannot be a solution for the spam because the bounty hunters will start to spam all over the boards with the same meaningless post.
