For me it's perfect, because I do not need to download the whole blockchain.

And it's safe Smiley

Paper wallet is not easy to set up by the way

Paper wallets are very easy to set up using bit address.

For extra safety, you should run the code offline, and format your computer afterwards. Smiley

There are 2 words that you are mixing up i think.

Offline wallet = Wallet that is not hosted on the internet.
Cold wallet = paper wallet or usb stick. Defined as a wallet that is hosted on a medium that is NOT connected to the internet.

You can have a offline wallet by downloading multibit or bitcoin QT

It's not an online wally  Tongue and it's pretty secure, I use it because it's a light wallet, QT takes up around 10gb currently and I don't want that

There are other wallets that don't download the blockchain like Electrum.

You could always get a online wallet like blockchain.info. That doesn't download the bc either.
Yeah but Online Wallets are not safe.

nothing is safe up to 100%.... your usb wallet can dissapear by itself (flash memory fading), your paper wallet can be destryoyed by oxygen in time, you can forgot password to your encryption etc. etc.

Multibit isn't an online wallet in humble knowledge and I think it's security depend on how clean your computer is (and how secure). it's a great one IMO.

How do you know? Have you got 2 factor auth set up? I'd make sure you haven't got any keyloggers first and maybe boot from ubuntu.

Maybe he found some strange IPs in his wallet logging page?

I'd definitely set up 2 factor auth on your phone if that was the case.

After all the COinbase/MTgox ect leaks, there are so many hacking and phishing attemps. It is so sick Sad

Cold storage is the way to go now IMO. Atleast for everything over 1 BTC!
