Legits coins must have all the following:

1) Growing Community
2) Ongoing Development: Check out their github to make sure if the developers are onto something
3) New legit partnerships
4) Transactional Activity (If the project has its own blockchain)
5) Communication: Regular activity on their social media channels. Updates with blogs and videos.

Also, you need to check out if there is a public roadmap and the milestones are completed on time.

Hello Everyone, I'm very new to Altcoins, Cryptocurrencies In General. I'm Looking for someone's advice that has been around for a while to kind of give me some tips or pointers on how to spot legit coin's, what to look for before investing. Really just any guidance on a basic level would be greatly appreciated.
Before investing in any coin you need to carefully study the project and carefully analyze the situation on the market. You have plenty to read and gain experience. If you will have a lot of knowledge about the crypto market then you will be a successful trader.

You start first by studying and understanding why Bitcoin exists in the first place. I started out as studying basic economics for whatever happens to the economy will definitely influence the lifestyle of every individual. I was so ignorant about the importance of the economy at first until I experienced something challenging lately regarding medical matters. I then realized that not all people could get healthcare and that if you want to live, you'd need to have a lot of money to be able to save yourself. That's the time I realized that my work is not enough for me to save myself nor anyone in my family. And it then further gave me realizations that it just won't save myself now but as well as my future self. So I started to learn why is this and clearly it has something to do with how the whole global economy evolved through numerous fiscal policies and regulations done not by the government but by the central banks. It's all because of inflation that we now experience the current state of the global economy. 3 years later, I have found a gem that would help me beat inflation for the long term and that is an artificial intelligence that would leverage the crypto market space. There are risks in investing. My advice is to study first but if you'd let me shill (even though I am not) about it, the coin is called PCL aka Peculium

Next Leg for Peculium (PCL) next +50%?
Peculium.io
Current MC - $6M
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/peculium/
With working product on Aieve.io

PECULIUM will definitely rise! thanks to its product AskEve LIVE that gives out the forecast of cryptocurrencies that can help traders for scalping and day trading. Not to mention that they would have another product that will be released in the future which is the savings platform! PCL TO THE MOON! Cheesy

The best suggestion I can make to you is actually investigate what the project is all about, the current stage of development, the team and the valuation. And You can try to start joined on the trusted communities.

Personally, I just look at their website first. If that is ghetto or uses jargon like "eco-friendly" without any credible explanation of how it will achieve that then I label it a shitcoin. If the website looks okay then I look for the team members behind it. If that is not disclosed I drop its score down a notch.

So my process is basically:

Website sniff test (is it up and running with a sensical mission statement?)
Who is the team (are they capable?)
A glance at the white paper
Is there a faster way to eliminate shitcoins? Does the Market cap tell me anything? What about the crypto groups that are focusing on some other goal like storing medical records--how will their coins perform?

I also understand that I could also just invest in shitcoins, the price action on some of these losers has been 10x-50x before crashing down...but there is just a much higher risk with that type of play even though it worked for some people. I believe speed of screening is something worth thinking about to narrow down your basket of cryptos

Icodrop and kickico might be two of trusted communities for us to determined some good projects. A project ratings on those webs might speaks for the project itself. Or you can go to a big exchangers and go search for a new released coins, and i think you can start from there too

certainly should analyze the complete to look for coins that are legit. start it from the team, and the concept of technology, whitepaper. very few people nowadays want to analyze things like this and only directly follow what words and opinions of others. Indeed this is not wrong but if you could analyze itself I think would be the better result.

Well, As you have said that you are a newbie to the atlcoins here, I am sorry to say that it is very difficult to differentiate between the legit coins and the scam ones... even the experienced investors fall prey to it... so its better that you should do the thorough research first on Google and then make the right decision... Try to list out some points to look before investing in an ICO...

Look into their website, Twitter, whitepaper and join their Discord room. Do not buy if the price is too high already. You can spot this by seeing its rank on coinmarketcap or calculate it yourself if the coin is not there yet.

If you are going to invest in ICO projects, then first of all in order to succeed in this business, you need to learn how to find information about its developers, and for this you need to learn how to use the linked In platform. Secondly, be sure to read the white paper completely and try to understand everything there, even the technical part.

For any coin you see or find interest in,  before you invest in it,  join the community first, try to  know the in and out of the project, the team, their goals and objectives and after then,  try and do some balancing (evaluate) to see if the idea behind the project is something that will benefit the general public (Crypto ecosystem).

Also look out for projects that actually has a demand in the market. The business or app behind the token must be closely integrated with the currency such that one cannot work without the other. Last but not the least, if you think you can trust the system, go for it.
Another thing to know about investing in cryptocurrency is the risk involved. Do not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. Cryptocurrency or ICO, unlike stock, holds very less value until the token actually hits the market and gains some popularity.

I believe that you need to study the project. You have to check the rating, read the technical document. And you will make a decision.

I think no matter if you are investing in any cryptocurrency project, you should start by consulting the whitepaper because you can get a lot of information from the whitepaper, such as whether its products are innovative, whether it is demanded by the market, etc. Second is whether its team has the real ability to complete this project!

Bro, the newbie might not understand anything if he reads even the best whitepaper. I guess that the beginner should start with the self-education. He must learn everything about the crypto world.

Try to create a portfolio in the cryptocompare and see if you managed to choose the right projects.
