The best suggestion I can make to you is actually investigate what the project is all about, the current stage of development, the team and the valuation. And You can try to start joined on the trusted communities.

If you are new to the cryptocurrencies market and want to find out and invest in altcoins, then first you need to have knowledge of cryptos. If you understand the basics of cryptos, you will find out what materials and knowledge you will need to know and how to choose which altcoins to invest in. The advice is to invest in the top 10 altcoins under Coinmarketcap.

Hello Everyone, I'm very new to Altcoins, Cryptocurrencies In General. I'm Looking for someone's advice that has been around for a while to kind of give me some tips or pointers on how to spot legit coin's, what to look for before investing. Really just any guidance on a basic level would be greatly appreciated.

I think you really need to be specific here.
Have you find the right trading platform you will be engaging with?
Name it and we will see the legitimacy of it and also histories if there are scams that happened.

I dont think someone can teach you in an instant about trading. For some of them have differences. We need some examples of what you will trade and where.

Binance got a lot of coins listed with them. Recently, there have been a hack with one trading platform. So i suggest you pick one of them for starters.

My advice to newbie is that never trust a single source and always study yourself before investing in any coin. There are many people which want that you invest in wrong coin and help to pump the coin which makes it very difficult to find a good source of knowledge. You should follow legit people, look into protect deeply and look into the team members and then invest.

For new entrants in the cryptocurrency market, it is important to determine which sector you want to participate in. If you want to invest then the most important thing is to study the knowledge of this market so much to have the basis of investment, learn from the experience of people who entered the market before is necessary. If you do not want to invest and just want to do bounty campaigns then you can refer to the way people work here to complete your work.

Personally I usually look at the project if they have a working product and promise something good after that the team is very important together with the advisors who can make that promise be true.

At the initial stage, all projects are the same. There is no way to identify fraudsters and so on. Everything is learned in the process. But if you have perseverance. You can punch all the information on the project and its team.

If you are newbie  I suggest you may invest in Etherium and Ripple whereas they have a decent stats in the market to day, which means it has a good market cap and trading volume. So your investments is secured because there are numerous investors investing in the said altcoins. You can also buy cheap altcoins but make sure that you have checked their whitepaper in order to avoid being scam in the end.

Its hard to determine legit icos from fake ones.  But one thing that you need check out aside from what others have stated is the relevance of the project cause most of them today are just copying out the concept of other previous projects and will never make it in the market.

In my opinion, the most important points are the professional preparation of the team, its enthusiasm for the project and the desire and ability to assemble a large community, including large market players. And of course a fresh, promising idea. And do not listen to those who promise the golden mountains.

One good thing about crypto is that you can be self thought. In fact, majority of pros today in crypto too are self thought. All you need to do is check google regularly for whatever info you want or youtube on how to analyse good projects. Loads of free info out there trust me.

Basically in this forum the point is read before starting it all in the bitcoin forum.
so do not get tired of reading in this forum so you can get more knowledge from here, because later good you own bad that bear it.
to analyze the top coin coin I usually personally use Indodax.
And if you want to participate in ICO, my advice you should do research first, because not all ICO is good and does not promise your future. if ICO is good, it has an experienced and strong team, they will also make or promote its products that really benefit us all.

I guess my interest is in projects that are just coming onto the exchange.. I like the idea of getting in on ground lvl and watching it slowly grow and hope for the best.. I could just invest in bitcoin or Eth The major guys but then its not really all that fun.. It may go up it may go down but unless you have a huge amount to invest your return wont be great unless for some reason the price just goes insane, where as a coin that just comes on that you see potential in you invest a small amount and if it happens to go even a small amount because you were able to buy so many coins your able to make a little something off of it..depending on how long your willing to hold on to it that is... so that's my thinking and kinda what I was wanting to do... bad idea?

Developer team interaction is very important, so potential investors and supporters can ask relevant questions about their project, and of course, the team behind the project, are they real experts in their fields and can they materialize their roadmap, marketing also plays a crucial role.
