Yea, this is a stunt but its one that could show the media we are a proactive community, in a way that they can benefit from.

Guys send them a small donation today. You know every newspaper is going to be writing about this in the coming days. (All the funds go to charity)

I agree, if a lot of people donate it will appear across the news.  If very little people donate that will also appear as well.  Currently they are sitting at  $23.42 raised on 15 donats... you can view the donation address here:  https://blockchain.info/address/1FoxNT4Nh15bVUZu59w6oRpNABKm74dxG4

They use coinbase, so they probably generate a random address everytime. (Just checked my transaction history and I donated to a different address).

I donated. My address was different than the others. Lets see how this little test goes for them, and hopefully they keep it around, and other media starts using it.

The weird thing is they don't seem to have a paywall up, every article I click on is there to read without donating?

I think they are just testing their system

Just sent $20.  The highest possible.

This is an important move folks.  Donate.  The more you can do, the better.

The masses will only remember a huge number when they announce the results of this experiment.

Make the number huge.

I also don't see any paywall on any article, tired of clicking random news.

Very positive news. I hope the experiment will prove successful.

You may want to delete your cache and restart browser. (perhaps a little bit too much work).

I posted this little blurb on my Facebook;

"Paid ~22p in bitcoin to get on http://www.suntimes.com/ as a contribution to their experiment with the cryptocurrency. Also wanted to see for myself how viable international microtransactions are. Suffice to say I am still a supporter of bitcoin, anyone got a better way I could send pretty much any amount of money to Chicago with a fee of under 10p?"

Yeah yeah, I know my donation amount is crap, but all their news looked pretty uninteresting (not even a tech section?!) so I spent maybe 3 minutes max on the site. Still blindly showed my support regardless though. If everyone did the same this could get some serious attention.

They implemented it as a donation, it brings up a popup, but you can bypass it by not agreeing to donate.
