Scam airdrops are scattered not only in the forum but also outside. You don't have to send any amount of bitcoin or eth just for you to be able to be qualified for their airdrop.
if they are requiring it, you should stopped asking them to be eligible for their airdrop and just move on of not getting their free token. It's like you bought their token with a price by sending them an amount or worst some are real scammers of asking your private keys, avoid them at any cost!

I participate in some Airdrops, I just think you have to use a bit of common sense when we are signing up to these things.

If something looks too good to be true, or people are asking for sensitive information (passwords, keys etc) then i think we all know its just a blatant scam. Problem is, people who are brand new to crypto who might get sucked into one of these traps, get burned and then automatically assume that everything to do with crypto is a scam- thus giving crypto/BTC a bad name.

We all need to play our part in helping people avoid the pitfalls and scammers.

Because you shouldn't be giving them your private keys in the first place. Why would you, anyway?? It's like them saying "hey I have this FREE cart of groceries for you, but for you to receive it you need to give me your bank credentials". And surely you did give them your credentials. Like what the hell. Educate yourself before getting into these markets.

Airdrops that require private keys are scam and a way of stealing money. You should be careful when joining airdrops that also require KYC, since some might be scam. Airdrops do not give a lot of money so you just have to be careful when joining them.

Furthermore, for some of the replies in this thread, airdrops are waste of time,  if you are up to big catch.  Invest, trade or HODl is the best way to make money.

Yes, they are. People are holding thousands of dollars in cryptocurrencies and still feel tempted by an additional free hundred. It's really not worth the risk and the number of scam airdrops will continue to increase because people are greedy. With BTC there was a lot of nice free and safe airdrops that only required you to sign a message with an address that held BTC before certain date. All cards on the table. If they want you to share any private information (including keys) they're a scam. Which doesn't mean that you will get anything if they don't require this information. I've registered for a number of "free" airdrops and got nothing.

Wow, people have been indeed using airdrops as an avenue to attack others funds. Thanks for sharing this additional knowledge. It'd be if great help.
I think what we have to best is to join bounty campaigns, invest or trade and we'll be safer somehow

Many air drops are fraudulent!

Do not send ETH to any address, even 0 ETH, any airdrop is free!

Never make your own private key happen in any airdrop and you won't be fooled.

None of normal Airdrops would ask you to pay
Why should you?
So if anyone asks you any proofs of your wallet ownership or something like that
be sure its a 100% scam

Most of the airdrop is a scam, they just copy & paste the other project. Me personally don't participate if its asking for donation or asking my identity. Especially do not participate if they ask for your private keys

The thing is, people abandon any logical thinking when FREE money is involved. They will give a anonymous service, their real identity for a few dollars.  Roll Eyes

A few years ago, Ripple were introduced here on this forum and their requirement for some free Ripple were for users to post their Facebook account. At that stage, Crypto currency were not operating in a Crypto friendly environment and some governments were apposed to Bitcoin and Crypto currencies.

A lot of the forum members willingly gave up their true identity for a few dollars worth of Ripple.  Roll Eyes

Indeed, there are a lot of crooks in airdrops because they are advertising at almost zero cost, so there are too many scammers in the mix and I no longer participate.

How did they steal your coin? Do I ever encounter a phishing site, I didn’t understand anything at the time and gave them a private key, but at that time there was nothing in my wallet.
