Hi,
I am about to buy some Bitcoin at very small amounts. I am giving up on trying to earn a bitcoin. I would like to know some information on a good site to invest my coins. I would like to have a more of a guarantee the way that VirtaPay has right now. They are currently on hold.
Has anyone heard of Bitvestor.us? I sent 0.04236 to my account and it has yet shown up on my  dashboard. I found the transaction of Blockchain. I guess they are a scam.
I am a total newbie. I do not want to get scammed anymore with these investment sites. Can anyone help?
Thank you in advance,
Apple Annie

At this stage there are no reputable sites to invest bitcoins.  Just hold them yourself.

If you want to save your bitcoins on a 3rd party web site, best known options are exchange sites as they also work like a bank, usually keep large sums of bitcoins offline in physical bank cases. They have large volumes of transactions and are generally trusted although sometimes their service is known to be delayed. The worst possible case is they may get attacked or shutdown. MtGox, an example of a large volume exchange has been attacked before and is still alive, no customers experiencing a loss. Scam claims in large volume exchange sites are a lot less frequent compared to lesser known untrusted bank-like web pages asking you to save your bitcoins on them who in turn usually shut down suddenly with no reason and keeping the lovely coins of all customers to themselves.

To further minimize the risk of loosing your coins, the best solution for you is to spread out your bitcoins, say 1/3rd of your bitcoin wealth on mtgox, another 1/3rd at bitstamp and another 1/3rd at btc-e.com. These are examples of ultra high volume exchanges and would not be after your few bitcoins.

Platforms for properly legit Bitcoin investment will come. There isn't anywhere that fits that bill yet. The investment parts of these forums are even scammier than the rest of the community.

Buy and hold. If you want to attempt to increase your stash perhaps look into risking a tiny proportion with altcoin speculation. It's not much more than gambling but at least you're not sending BTC into a total black hole.

I invested in Just-Dice.

House edge in the long run will always win, think of it as you are investing in a casino.

At the moment reliable exchanges are a big gap for the currency portion of bitcoin, "investment opportunities" ran by opportunists and keeping your coins safe is a challenge.

Mt.Gox concerns me more every day. For now Coinbase has my consideration as a reasonable option to purchase, only because they have been recently infused with a large amount of venture capitol from an experienced Silicon Valley v.c. firm but even then I don't yet feel comfortable leaving $ BTC in their hands so I'd move it offline asap if you're planning to hold.

Andreas Antonopoulos is a bitcoin enthusiast and security expert. Wish I had the link to his profile because he offers a free paper wallet and he posts here.

I'm very new so take my words with that knowledge. I hope your transaction comes through, let us know....rooting for you.
Maybe an "old-timer" can help advise?

Isn't Bitvestor a pyramid scheme? If you don't want to get scammed don't send your coins to get rich quick schemes. I'd just hold the coins  and avoid putting them in risky investments.
