Apparently I still use a Blackberry Smartphone, yea, sorry. From when I read this Google two factor authentication is only made for mobile devices like phones and ipads and not computers. I this true? Since most service discussions recommend this, I thought it would be a good place to post this here.

I think so, the only two I know of are google authenticator and authy.

You can use google authenticator from a browser window. Not really secure if you're doing it on the same computer, but better than not using 2FA at all.
