we have this metamask which will eliminate potential phishing sites.  this is very helpful even for experts.  i would suggest community members to unite against bad elements by reporting suspicious activities like questionable bounties or airdrop schemes to moderators.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

I am sure everyone who is into cryptocurrency will come across this "giving Eth to receive Eth" scam at least once when participating in a bounty campaign or doing research about a certain coin.

This is especially true when you browse through Twitter where there are fake twitter account pretending to be someone famous & asking unsuspecting victim to send out Eth in return for more Eth.

My question is, what do you suggest we can do to prevent our friends and family from falling prey into such scam? Do you use any software or add-on to block fake accounts from appearing on your Twitter timeline?

Hopefully Twitter will impose stricter rules for people from opening new accounts to stop this serious scam from becoming more serious.

This kind of agreement obviously is a scam. But still, many were deceived by this kind of set up. Best thing to do is to ask ourselves, "who on earth will give us a favor without benefiting them first?!"

Scam (in this case, questionable bounties and airdrop, etc) isn't moderated. A better approach is to create a scam accusations thread/post.

I have stumbled upon this scam ones or twice when i did my first ICO, at first it was too great to be true, i was so happy and sad at the same time, when i found out it was a scam. It will be difficult for Twitter to stop this people, i do believe every individual should apply a little knowledge and common sense. Making money aint that easy.

They should always check the twitters account if its verified if not just ignore it. Erc20 airdrops are now filled with this selfdrop that you send eth to received a certain amount of coin that has no value or use for &  I think this is part of those eth scam.

If it's too good to be true, then it probably is, to be honest only stupid people who fall for this kind of scam, and you should not rely on any software or add-on to protect you, use your brain, or close your twitter account.

Indeed, it's good not to quickly believe in anything that suddenly becomes good to give something, because that's where fraud often happens. it's better indeed to close his twitter or make a new return.

I never found this kind of scam on twitter but on telegram..i think someone added me there..and u can see the messages many people say thanks for receiving 5eth,10eth ,12eth by sending 0.1eth for example..it depends on how much eth u send..many people might fall victims to that group because it seems the promise of receiving eth is very true..

In logic it is very obvious scam bounty. When I'm reading the content of your topic. I don't imagine even 1 person fall in this trick. As a bounty Hunter, I'm here to participate and earn free token then sell to get eth other btc. How do someone do a campaign and ask by the team to send eth.

This actually happened and still happening...have you heard about self drop bounty? Where a project creates an advertising announcement with profile provided of the prpject... Inviting people investors to buy invest to the project coin..with certain rates and amount of how much youre willing to buy.. And waits up until the goal reached for sold out... Then once on exchange..people can wait for the price of the token to rise and get profit...
There are self drop ico projct like this that were scams.. Its still up to us if how much we know 1st the project before getting into it..

I have seen this scam everywhere. How is this possible to believe in this Give to Take ETH? You should be very naïve to do that.

don't expect someone to give you free money that should be the key for this kind of situation, just try to use regular method to have some income (trading, etc). There will be always much scam methods, people just need to know there is no free money without any effort.
you're right bro, moreover for now people have started to be critical in choosing bounty or airdrop, if there is a requirement to send a number of eth, surely most people will not join it

I was surprised to see TWITTER isn't taking a proactive stance to solving this 'giving away eth' posts..
they have even given a verified badge to one of the scammers posing as Elon Musk... as seen in the image below.

It's a social media, what do you expect? If someone posted that way, that is his/her rights. If there is something to cheat on you, then you would be cheated, no bots could stop that.

use your brain, or close your twitter account.

Sounds rude but true. Slap him with the reality

If you get scammed by things like that, I'm sorry to say but you deserve it. A little bit of common sense can go a long way.

Common sense nowadays are not too common.

You don't need to be stupid to fall for a scam - same as being religious.  You just need to be gullible

Makes sense. Best comment for the thread

This is an old school trick. I am a new comer here in the forum and I knew already about this. Definitely there were many members spreading awareness about scam activities.

I do not think that my relatives will going to fall on this scam. It is so easy to understand that the offer is scam. No one will ever give you ETH for free. I do not know why other members fall into it. Maybe they were just have much trust in this "ANONIMITY" world where scammers could take some courage to scam others because of this features.
