Hi. I had set up a mining rig which worked good for about a year mining Ethereum and Ethereum Classic using Claymore miner v11.5.

My mining rig composed of:

ASRock H110 PRO BTC+ motherboard,
2 x 4GB (8GB) HyperX HX424C15FBK2/8 DDR4 2400MHz RAM,
Intel Core i7-7700K CPU,
Kingston SUV400S37/120G UV400 120GB SSD,
8 x Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX580 8GB VGA cards,
2 x Corsair HX1000 PSUs.

Everything worked fine with all of my 8 x RX580 cards and Windows 10 1709 64bit edition. But before about a month that the Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) being released, the system became problematic and extremely slow. It momentarily stalling (at load time in logon page of Windows and later inside Windows) and the mouse pointer became to stutter for all the time!! Also, the audio failed to start giving an "x" in the tray icon! Plus, the most important, Claymore miner (v11.5) it stalls in the beginning and never goes to the vga cards identification and later to the mining process

This situation happens if I have all the 8 cards connected. If I disconnect the 5 cards and only leave the 3 cards connected, then the system runs smoothly. If I connect one more card (4 cards total) then the system becomes to stall and to have the previously described behavior.

I made a clean format and installed Windows 10 1709 (64bit) edition with the latest vga drivers from AMD and everything worked fine (plus the sound) with all of my 8 x RX580 cards. But some days later the system auto updated to 1803!! And then became problematic again...

Does anyone have the same problem with ASRock H110 PRO BTC+ and AMD cards after 1803 update? Is there any conflict somewhere? I can't understand..

Thanks  Cheesy

There are many problems from a mining perspective with Windows 10 1803, even more than usual with new Windows feature updates. To avoid compatibility issues with new feature updates, It's a good idea to defer feature updates until programs and drivers have been updated to be compatible.

On Windows 10 Pro you can set a Group Policy to defer feature updates until they have been targeted for business deployment, which is about 4 months after the public release, or you can also defer feature updates for up to 365 days. This way you still get the security updates.

gpedit ==> Administrative Templates ==> Windows Components ==> Windows Updates ==> Windows Update for Business ==> Select when Preview Builds and Feature Updates are Received ==> Set to 'enabled' and  in the drop down select 'Semi-Annual Channel'.

Thank you very much Vann! Thank you also karim_hassan777. Yes, I have the Pro version of Windows 10 Cheesy

I have a question. When I will make a format and a clean installation of Windows 10 1709 then should I make the settings you provide from the first moment of Windows Logon? Or should I do all the updates of 1709 first and when the next update is the 1803 version to set "pause" to the updates and then to go to gpedit and make the changes?

Do a clean install of Windows 1709 with only a single GPU in the primary x16 PCI-E slot. After the install is finished, on the first logon disable Windows feature updates in gpedit, then run Windows Update to get the latest updates and reboot. Go back in to gpedit and disable driver updates to keep Windows Update from modifying your drivers.

gpedit ==> Navigate to: Computer Configuration ==> Administrative Templates ==> Windows Components ==> Windows Update and set 'Do not include drivers with Windows Update' to enabled.

Download the latest driver for your GPU's and run DDU in safe mode to remove the Windows installed driver and disable automatic driver installation when prompted by DDU. Shutdown, install the rest of the GPU's and then run the GPU driver setup.

Ok!

Should I download DDU from here http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html (is this the official link)? The DDU says that it is compatible with up to Windows 10 Creator update 1703 (anything higher is at your own risk). I have 1709 version. Will there be a problem by using it with my version of Windows? (I have the AMD Cleanup Utility too. Does this app do the same thing?)

Also, how to enter safe mode in Windows 10?

The guru3d page is outdated. The official DDU website is

https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu-v17086-released

Run DDU in Windows, go in to the settings and enable the safe mode dialog, then close it, run it again and select reboot to safe mode from the menu. DDU is a more updated and better version of the AMD driver cleanup utility.
