hello

today i received this email from bittrex support saying that i have been chosen as a tester for their Beta Desktop Application and they claimed that they are giving 1 BTC to every teste so my question is: is this legit and is it coming from the real bittrex spport or just a scam attempt ?

the email i received:

Bittrex Beta Application

Dear xxxx,

You are receiving this e-mail because you have been chosen as a tester for our Beta Desktop Application.

Every BETA Tester will be rewarded instantly 1 Bitcoin (BTC) in their Bittrex Account, You can withdraw this bonus right away or use it for trading!

What is the BETA Desktop Application:

You can now trade on your Windows devices without using a browser which uses less data and is a lot faster.

It is a more secure platform to protect our users against phishing, hacking, etc.

The Windows Application is easier to use with the user friendly interface.

The application is still in Beta which is why we need you to improve the application before releasing.

Please send us your feedback using the app itself.

Download Link: Download Bittrex BETA

If you have any questions, don't hesitate and reply to this email so we can get back to you as soon as possible!

Best regards,
Bittrex Team

Seems a little sketch, I would just be careful. If you're looking for a chance to get free BTC I know HBUS (hbus.com) is offering prizes if you're one of the thousands to register with them. I would check it out on their website and it's more safe.

Come on, you can't seriously believe bittrex would be paying you $7k to beta test their application right? This is an obvious scam and a poor attempt at one.

Of course it's a scam.

Quote from: from email
Download Link: Download Bittrex BETA

It would be interesting to see where that takes you (not that I'd advise clicking it).

BTW, it would be helpful if you could confirm the spellings involved as your thread title spells it Bitrrex, and many of these type of scams utilize homophones.

May we know what is the email address of the mailer?

And you didn't do anything prior to the mail right? do you? Because if none, then it's obvious that how come you will be chosen. BTC1 is way high as a reward for just a beta testing even that is legit. Let's be realistic here.

There is also a download link for you on which it will become more suspicious. If you know how to deal with scanning application thing, then you can check it. But if not, better refrain from downloading it.

Looks like a spam email.Your mail would be followed by

~~ In order to claim you 1 btc you must depost 0.05 as a security amount which will be refunded after your testing or anything along these lines ~~

If I was you, I would simply contact support of Bittrex and get a confirmation if it's fake or not.I'm 100% sure it's fake since exchanges who breed on service fees will never give 1 BTC randomly.

How generous they are to give 1 bitcoin for beta testers? If there is something too good to be true, they won't give their testers that much and won't conduct something like that by just selecting through email.

Put the email address of that scammer so it will be exposed.

Download Link: Download Bittrex BETA
Don't download anything from a random guy or even the exchange will require  you to do so, follow any of their official twitter handle for sure there must be a way to inform their traders officially that they did something to their system.

It's an obvious a scam attempt. The main question is, how they get your email in the very first place, I have a bittrex account but never received any email with their beta test.

It seems that you used your email to some cloud mining or any faucet sites or any suspicious crypto related website before.

If you see any kind of message that is sent to you apparently from an exchange or big crypto organisation that promises monetary rewards for anything, you should question it and treat it as a scam.

You did the right thing in asking the community, because this was definitely an attempt to infect your computer. Ironically, apparently this virus is supposed to protect you against phishing/hacking Roll Eyes

The main question is, how they get your email in the very first place

Most likely a shady crypto site somewhere that OP has signed up to leaked his email or are using it themselves to send these kind of scam content. That's why managing your email and not signing up to these shady sites is important. At least use a disposable email.

Is it just me that this is obviously a scam? Or not? Bittrex will never have another app called bittrex beta unless they have the right documents and announcement to do so not by emailing you. And also that bonus 1 btc you kidding me? That's obviously a scam no one in the right mind would reward beta testers for such kind of money.

It's clearly obvious mate, I have also an account in Bittrex but I did not receive that email that you have said on my email inbox if they intended that all their costumer are having a reward bonus from Bittrex beta. You may contact Bittrex support team regarding this issues because so far Bittrex has a good image of trading they are not shitty exchange.
Btw, 1 bitcoin reward is too huge amount if ever happen no one exchange giving on that. Very suspicious!

sure here u go: support@bittrexsupport.org
not sure if this is their real support address but it looks good tho

Bittrex always used mailer domain .com e.g no-reply@bittrex.com & mailer@bittrex.com when sending an email in general. Also quiet not formal for a reputable exchange to used support as local-part of the address and it is identical to it's domain. Overall, not really came from Bittrex.

Again, how come hackers knows some of the emails on Bittrex database. This is now common not even on Bittrex.

Anyways you can locked now the thread as one of the responders above posted the official tweet of Bittrex about this.
